Title: serious question
Post by: john m on July 10, 2019, 08:49:36 am
Trains and Busses willbe given special permission to continue to work over the border post brexit ,whats the story for taxies ,we are a business so do we have the right to trade north of the border post brexit .Also if the G20 agree on tax harmonisation and that tax must be paid in the country the service is used and not the country where it is purchased will we have a tax liability in the north if we drop off there .Could become an issue for drivers working in border counties .

The insurance companies were supposed to issue their clients with green cards .you cannot cross the border without it.at leat that is my understanding.it will have implications for as I  go up to Carrickfergus quite a lot

If your driving a taxi with a customer north of the line are you doing so illegally as you are carrying out business in Britain which is no longer in the Common Market .Hauliers are being told they need to have a tax number .You dont want the Queens Garda confiscating your car for tax fraud .

When did Britain leave the Common Market?

When did Britain leave the Common Market?

Do you really think them backward cunts have moved into the EU they are still trying to intergrate into the Common Market before they leave .

I don't understand your point. You suggest it's currently illegal for an Irish taxi to cross the border in the course of trade because Britain is no longer in the Common Market. Prey explain?

There is no problem going north at the moment.this may only become a problem when the UK leave the EU.in which case you will need a green card to cross the border.this card will be issued to by  your insurance company. I am a regular visitor to the north and did not have any problem crossing the border

At present we can carry out business withour obstruction but IF Brexit happens then we are not operating in another EU member state .I read that both the UK and Irish Governments had signed an undertaking to allow trains and busses continue to operate I have heard nothing about our trade from our reps .The Hauliers assoc are advising their members of the requirement for some sort of tax mumber .if you are apprehended in the North driving without a conformation letter from your insurance that you hold valid insurance your car can be impounded .

Aaah right... when he said "If your driving a taxi with a customer north of the line are you doing so illegally as you are carrying out business in Britain which is no longer in the Common Market ." I thought he meant "If you're driving a taxi with a customer north of the line are you doing so illegally as you are carrying out business in Britain which is no longer in the Common Market."

Because I object to our club playing freindly matches right in the middle of a competitive season, not to mention the fact we were risking injury to some of our players.I made  my feelings known, although im glad we made 70 k from it

I don't think so, DM. In fact I don't recall ever seeing live music in Kyles... when I was a regular twenty odd years ago I'd be there most nights Mon - Thurs, rarely at the weekend... could have been music in the public bar, I generally frequented the lounge... these days it's kinda knocked through, well behind the counter is knocked through but I don't be there that often, maybe once every month or two, usually a Wednesday. Like most bars it seems a lot quieter nowadays but it's a decent boozer, only complaint being that it closes at closing time... ifn I'm drinking local I'd be barely in the bar by closing time! I remember asking Dave Kyle if he facilitated Christenings many years ago (I was never a day drinker so had no idea what the place was like in daylight) and he says no problem once there's no Children! He wouldn't even let his own kids on the licensed premises back in those days, probably still the same.

Well its always the saturday night they are on when they are playing, but as far as the kids on the premises is concerned,I agree with him .a public house is no place for kids.when we were playing darkie kellys, and the sunnybank inn I hated to see kids in

It's common now around D7 and I assume other parts of Dublin to bring your dog into the pub.I was looking at a dog in the pub a few weeks ago thinking I used to be like you when I was a kid.Dog looked bored too.

But the Dog can lick it's nuts.
If you wanted to do the same, you'd have to bribe him with a chicken Goujon, then he'd let ya! 8)
