Title: Liverpool FC looking after their own.
Post by: Belker on November 07, 2019, 11:00:36 am
Sean Cox will return to Anfield this weekend for the first time since suffering a devastating and unprovoked attack at the stadium in April, 2018.

The 54-year-old Liverpool fan was attacked by Roma supporters ahead of the clubs' Champions League semi-final first-leg meeting, suffering severe brain injuries.
This Sunday the Reds face Manchester City in a huge Premier League showdown and, the family confirmed on Wednesday, Cox will be there.

"We're delighted to welcome Sean and his family back to Anfield," CEO of Liverpool Football Club Peter Moore said.

"I am sure it will be an emotional return for the family; however, the club has worked closely with the Cox family to ensure that their visit is made as easy as possible, and that they are given all the space and comfort that they need.

"The way that our fans have supported Sean and the Cox family is a testament to their commitment to the LFC family, and we know this will be the case again on Sunday."

Jurgen Klopp paid tribute to the "inspirational" Sean Cox in the Liverpool manager's programme notes for the clash with Manchester City at Anfield.
"There are a couple of people in the ground today I want to make a special mention of: Sean Cox and his incredible family," said Klopp

"Sean's name and that of his wife Martina and his wider family makes me think of courage, spirit and renewal. Sean is an inspirational figure in the club's story now.
"I hope all of us here today, whatever colours we wear, do him proud in how we approach the occasion.

"Sean's story has touched all of us, and although initially the emotions were one of sadness that his life has been so affected by purely coming to support the football team he loves, we now have new feelings when we hear his name mentioned."

Liverpool CEO Peter Moore later tweeted a photograph of the manager meeting Cox with the inspirational caption, "What's important now...".

Without the fans buying their shit they'd be all on the scratcher.I was in Anfield on a session last Tuesday to see a Champions league match. It's not a cheap day out.

Everything is about optics nowadays....perception is king. Why so many Micks support the anti-Catholic team in Scouserville is beyond me..........Everton were the Fenian side in that shithole......St Domingo is their original name.

I'm not even into football but I enjoyed it all the same.Seats were good.Belgian fans out sung the Liverpool fans.Although I was well oiled before the match even started.Drinking from 9am in the airport.Good day out. You'd wanna win the lotto to go to all the matches. It was like seeing middle-aged blokes go to Disneyland.

You be going nowhere with your 12 pints at the annual Chrimbo bash in Cork !
Korky and myself put it together counting back on all the various pubs we visited and how many pints we had in each the First year and we reckoned that between us all we swamped about 18 or 19 pints per man on the day !
The Second year was even worser finishing off with Jameson shots !!

This picture for some strange reason reminds me of one of the all time classic songs " My Irish Molly"

CHORUS
Oh, Molly, my Irish Molly, My sweet a cushla dear;
I'm fairly off my trolley, My Irish Molly, when you are near.
Spring time, you know is ring time, come dear and don't be slow,
Change your name, go out with game, Begorra wouldn't I do the same
My Irish Molly, O!

Yes that's the one , now all together sing along
