Whats new?
1. €25 Miniumum Fare - Every order on FREE NOW Exec will now be a guaranteed minimum fare of €25.
2. Tolls Included Upfront - All routes that pass through a toll of any kind will now have the cost of that toll added to the upfront price offered.
Curious to see the reaction from punters.
-
You'll be cleaning up.
-
Yeah, if they get the damn app working right for me :)
-
What's the reason for this? Are the limos not covering the jobs?
I suppose you'll know if it's a good idea if there's any work.If there's no work it will be a bad idea.
-
Yis are all walking into the loins den blindly. Has ANY of you given the slightest thought to what will happen when F/N get total control of the industry ? You really WILL be just like employees, but without the benefits of employees conditions. They will be able to bounce you around any which way they like, and there will be nothing you can do about it. You will eventually see I hope, the drastic mistake you made by making it compulsory in all but name to join a dispatcher. I can see them changing the goal posts when they get full control. I hope for your sakes in wrong, but we will wait and see

Executive changes....that's just for limos.Nothing to do with is as we have the maximum fare thingy.
-
Probably a €25 fare if you can't use the bus lanes?
-
They should introduce surge pricing for clapped out shiteboxes masquerading as limousines. Firewall noted in another thread that punters are more than willing to pay current limo rates when they can't get taxis so it would make sense to maximise fares during those peak periods.

Christmas is coming and the goose is getting fat

Bus lanes are not 24 hours so for everyone the bus lanes are open season at off-peak times. I work night only so the bus lanes don't prohibit me.
I popped into Starbucks on the Green at 2am Sunday morning, so many people trying to flag down empty taxis, only for the taxis to pull up at the top of the rank at Grafton Street. Even when there are taxis, people can't get them. Punters using the app to get Exec cars cause they WILL arrive and not cancel minutes later.

Because yiz are the scourge of the PSV industry. Driving wankout shiteboxes masquerading as limos rofl
-
And desperate for the €25 minimum fare
-
How are limos the scourge of the PSV industry? In what way are they wanked out shiteboxes, when they have NCT/Suitability tests like taxis?
Go to any other city and they have similar cars doing similar work, or in your head a limo should be a stretch limo, or something similar?
Also, perhaps the punters prefer to be in car that doesn't stink of snackbox and cigarettes, driven to an important event by a lad in a football jersey?
See what I did there, stereotyped a taxi driver. But I know not all taxi drivers are like that, some drivers pride themselves on a clean taxi inside and out, and the car doesn't stink. And I don't drive a wankout shitebox either.

There used to certain criteria for limos, that’s being exploited now. A superb isn’t a limo. Merc S Class, BMW 7 series, Audi A6/8, Jag, ya know fancy cars. Now there is Superbs, Volvo XC90s and other vehicles that just shouldn’t be limos.
Also due to motor tax prices some drivers get the car registered as a Limo to save some money
-
I'll agree that a Superb shouldn't be a limo, and I drove a few Superbs as a taxi, but it comes nowhere near the likes of Audi/Merc/BMW stuff.
If you want to tax your car cheaply as a limo, it has to be registered as a limo(logbook change) and pay the insurance which is higher.

it only needs to be insured for the day of Suitability as a PSV, can be cancelled the next day and insured privately

There's a 181 black superb Laurin & Klement that parked outside the Merrion, that looks every inch a limo.

You're not wrong Dalyer. They only care about themselves though-: so no point trying to enlighten a leg of pork. Taxiing is the perfect entry point for our replacements. White hetero males here have the lowest sperm count in Europe....hard to believe we've gone from the most fertile to the most barren in such a short space of time.
-
Are yis counting yer sperms now?
-
Only of a Sunday!!
-
Get yourself a microscope and have a look Merc............you might not need to be strapped up when she's looking for the kitchen to be done again.
-
Superb is OK for Limo, IMO. I use Uber on the Costa Del Crime on occasion and they're always fairly new Mercs or Superbs... but priced as taxis not limos. I think I had a Superb on UberX (cheap as a minicab) in London, definitely had a Merc and a Prius or two.
-
The only problem I see with the Superb is they depreciate fairly dramatically.Meaning you could be in an eleven or twelve year old limo/hack superb quite cheap. In fact cheaper than we can buy our taxis due to the ten year rule.
-
I don't think Uber keep them that long... always in as new condition in my experience and generally with suited and booted drivers... for less than or equal to the price of a taxi one can't complain.
-
Who do limos not have to be branded, and are they allowed use bus lanes
-
Who do limos not have to be branded, and are they allowed use bus lanes
Limos, like private cars can use bus lanes only where and at what time it's permitted, as displayed on the blue signs at the beginning of the bus lane.
-
Who do limos not have to be branded, and are they allowed use bus lanes
They're no allowed carry signage - aside from the licence disc. Same goes for hackneys... makes it more difficult for them too snatch taxi jobs off the street. You're probably old enough to remember when taxis didn't have roof signs, just a little plate that you'd never spot at night. Back then there wasn't really any such thing as street work. It was all wireless or rank.

Don’t tell Dalymount
-
That was before you were born... there weren't many ranks either, no unofficial ones at all... your dad would probably remember!

hard to ask him as he was burnt to ashes
Getting back to the OP
how many jobs would you do each night FW?
How much is the average Limo fare from City to Airport? (Pm me if you wish)

Back then we knew how to drink and drive...these days!

Between 10 to 15 jobs a night. Exec fare from Dawson Street to Terminal 2 is €42 fixed price.
I had a airport run from the InterContinental last Sunday, with a tip, it came to €57, but that was through the East Link and the Tunnel.
