Took an awful of media credit for shaking up Dublin football when it was actually Pat Gilroy behind it all......fair play to him for allowing the players bask in the sunshine before announcing his departure.....he didn't steal their thunder. Sherlock might be next in line to try his hand at it..........on a hiding to nothing after 7 from the last 9. Can't see Dessie Farrell replacing Gavin so soon but he's the bookies fav.

Farrell has trained all of them, bar 4, at junior level over the yrs. Gilroy walked because he thought they weren't following his instruction. I was behind the Hill when Brogan missed that chance that would have seen them beating Mayo in 2012 in the Semi......Gilroy threw a tantrum seemingly...they had been 12 points down and lost by 2. A job that is thankless..........Gilroy has private business interests whereas Gavin's gig at Weston and Baldonnel allowed him work around it. Sherlock is the poster-boy but he's no real managerial experience..........Dessie's job as a Psychiatric Nurse makes him fav alright...

That's very likely but John Costello is the CEO of the Dublin Board an he might not take kindly to being told what to do. Farrell is the best candidate but not the best GAA man. Someone else might be the compromise solution. Gavin knows Dublin will be split in 2 very soon as has been the GAA's plan all along.

Couple of gamblers in Faughs are mentioning Mick Bohan as the man.........worked with Gavin and managed the Clare footballers...on top of the Dublin Ladies for a the 3-in-a-row. An ideal compromise candidate and as enigmatic as Gavin in an interview.
