JOHN FALLON
Former club and international teammates Damien Duff and Alan Kelly clashed over the infamous Wembley-gate incident, ultimately leading to both of their exits from the Ireland backroom staff.

The Irish Examiner has established that a major difference of opinion erupted between the pair about the video shown and speech delivered by manager Stephen Kenny in the dressing-room before the friendly against England on November 12.

Goalkeeping coach Kelly registered his objection to the playing of the video, which included references to Ireland’s escape from English rule, and was further dismayed by aspects of Kenny’s 20-minute monologue.

Although heated words were exchanged between Kelly and Duff, who played together for Blackburn Rovers and Ireland, the goalkeeping coach remained involved for the Uefa Nations League game against Wales in Cardiff three days later.

He cited health concerns for not travelling with the squad to Dublin for the final game against Bulgaria through an FAI statement of which Kenny had no advance knowledge.

Kelly then publicly rejected “innuendo” about the alleged leaking of the episode to the media, with Kenny subsequently confirming his staff member wasn’t behind a complaint which triggered a five-day investigation by the FAI into events surrounding the UK part of the international gathering.

While Kenny was hopeful the rift had abated to keep his staff structure intact, Duff sensationally quit last Friday and Kelly didn’t wait around either, informing Kenny on Sunday night of his intention to resign.

With 10 weeks left before the World Cup qualifiers kick off in Serbia, the Ireland manager is awaiting an answer from his preferred candidate to succeed Duff and is in the process of sourcing a replacement for Kelly.

The man never looks like he knows what he is going to say before a interview...then he talks tripe...like we have to hold the ball and find one and other...We need better luck in front of goal to help us score...I would have run a mile away from him if he was my Schoolboy manager....Never rated him but admit he did a good job at Dundalk....maybe by accident ?

Coola the absolute fucking Stupidity of Attacking the English for the Past .Half his team are English their Families made a living in England when there was no Living to be made in Ireland and ALL the players on the Pitch are earning big Bucks with English Clubs but the real stupidity was this was a FRIENDLY .Most of the IRISH Players would of loved to put one over on their English team mates .Its this sort of Plastic Paddysim would make the likes of Grealish and the other lad and many other qualified players turn away from playing for us .Our favourite Manager was an England World Cup winner who was totally Committed to our team .Kennys form of Management is something you would expect in a film if the H block first eleven ever played the RUC .A fucking useless manager and man motivator on his record alone he has no place in international football management he is a Yellow Pack manage all the FAI can afford .If Irish Players were to approach their team mates who might be Qualified to play for Ireland how would they explain Kenny .You want to see how Sport should respect the opposition look at the Video of England v Ireland in Croker the singing of the Anthems or how we compete at Cheltenham both great successes without the Gingoism .We are better than that Kenny has dragged Irish Football into the Gutter and the FAI have allowed it by ignoring what happened .I wonder who paid for the production of the Video ?Was it the FAI.

What does Kenny do?
He is trying to erase Jack Charlton from the Irish Association Football supporters' memories. His plan is not working so far.

Very tragic to see him having no recollection of it all at the end, although I didn't see all the documentary, I believe that he did recognise Paul Mc Grath. Health, what else is more important?

My late Mam who was as sharp as a tack developed an ulcer on her leg as a result of smoking.
The ulcer turned septic and she developed Vascular Dementia.

A terrible thing to watch the decline.
I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Look at most Premiership sides England ,Scotland ,Wales and Ireland will find it hard to field a team of 11 Premiership players .I think both Chelsea and Arsenal have fielded teams in the Premiership that did not contain any British players in the starting eleven .
