Title: PUP - Don't go back until you get the return to work grant
Post by: silverbullet on September 20, 2021, 03:00:06 pm
I got a call from Intreo finally asking what they could do for me. He was delighted to hear I was back working, and that I'd signed off the PUP.

When I asked about the €1,000 restart grant I was politely told I should have secured it before I signed off, and that I was no longer eligible.

When I told him I'd Advise other self-employed to wait until they secured the grant he started stuttering, saying they'd have to jump through hoops, etc. I told him we're well used to jumping through hoops, but thanks for your valuable advice Mr. David Fairclough.

Does anyone remember the Liverpool super-sub? 8)

Nice one Watty, I'll pursue it via the DSP rather than Intreo. They're paid to save the  state money.

Unfortunately, application form says:

When completed, this application should be sent, along with your tax clearance certificate, to your local Intreo Centre. Details of your local Intreo Centre are available on www.gov.ie/intreo (http://www.gov.ie/intreo)

Think we get a ref number and not an actual cert?

It's bureaucracy at its finest!  You can actually get a printout off the Revenue site but it's basically just your name and the ref no. (TCAN)  ::)

I singed off the PUP last June when the pubs kinda re-opened.
I rang Intreo to ask about the Grand grant, there was a lot of hoops to jump through.
I was Pissed off with all the Red tape, but the Intreo lady insisted on sending me out the forms, which had sat on my kitchen counter fer about a fortnight, my puter went down one morning and out of total boredom I filled out the forms, actually not that hard to do, input anything, Insurance, Tyres, running costs (no receipts required) but you must keep receipts fer the year after, a handy Grand !

The one thing that I do distinctly remember was that you must be off the PUP to claim the Grand.
It took 7 weeks all in before they paid me the Grand.

I think that you need an application form from Intreo to start off, it is pretty easy to do.

Is it February is the last day of the pup ?
Feb 8th is the last payment date fer the scroungers benefit before you go on Jobseekers allowance.
And you only have till year end to claim the Handy Grand grant if you sign off.

Chrimbo will be rocking this year, sign off then and claim your Grand grant.

Could you go on Jobseeker's benefit if you don't qualify for JA?

With regard to the grant. Im not up to speed on it but do you have to specify why u need the grant? What are the hoops you have to jump through.
Surely theres a “catch” to receiving the grant? Thanks in advance

It was/is a bribe.  You're getting €250-350 on the PUP.  Here's a shiny €1,000 if you go back to work now.

Now they're telling the PAYE workers they'll get a guaranteed €1,800 (?) if they're made redundant in the next year or two.

Are you allowed two and, if so, how long do you have to wait to apply for the second?
