24 hr shop earlier this morn...me and shop owner.
Me: Ciggy sales down with the annual increase?
Him: Yes probably, but it will save the taxpayer money, I suppose, with the health service.(Rehearsed answer).
Me, being a cunt: How do you reckon that? Doesn't the Govt get 8 or 9 quid tax for every pack sold?
Him: It costs millions in health care every yr, so they said on the news.
Me: Where is the tax going to come from if nobody smokes or if they all go underground for their smokes?
Him: They'll hit something else.....
Me: The excise duty generated from smokes pays for the WHOLE health service mate and when it's gone they'll have to recoup it somehow....meaning non-smokers will be hammered too....
Him: Most of my fag customers are near the end anyway...........
Me:You might have to sell that 2 litre jammer when they do hit diesel...and they will as soon as Leo gains 3 to 5 seats in the next election, and he will if the E.U. says "make it so". I suspect ciggy sales will go south completely now.....See a lot of auldears shopping in the ethnic shops nowadays..."
