One Dublin pub is opening its doors for takeaway pints despite Level Five lockdown being extended until April 5 at the earliest.

Kavanagh's Pub on New Street in the capital said they have been compliant since the start but will not be following the Taoiseach's advice on not serving takeaway pints.

The owner said in a social media post: "We have always been compliant with & very mindful of public health advice but after almost a full year of little or no trade it’s very evident that we’re NOT 'All in this together'.

"We will no longer be going along with Micheal’s asking of us not to sell takeaway pints..We are open Thursday- Saturday 12.30-8pm. Sunday’s from 12.30-6pm. Our delicious hot counter home cooked meals will be available for only €10 each meal

"We will also be selling Pints of Heineken & Coors for takeaway. Unfortunately we can’t get any Guinness products."

Back at the beginning of January, Government leaders made it clear the takeaway pints were not allowed and were considered breaking the rules.

Leo Varadkar slammed any chance of drinking on the streets when he confirmed pints with “lids” are now completely banned.

Ther Tánaiste said “it is not on,” hammering home the initial warning from Taoiseach Micheál Martin to “forget the pints” for this Level Five lockdown.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.
