I was in a cab all night no problem. It must be a slow news day when a digital rag talks taxis.

No Tram stories

No Dublin Bus stories

No DART stories

Why?

They generate advertising revenue, that's the lifeblood of digital redtops.

Freenow are the only taxi app with their own training program to get drivers through the geography exam.Uber aren't the ones we should be concerned about.

I got an email from FN saying that when I get a BEV to contact the guy and he would "escalate" it to their EV team...I think I'll run him down in the BEV for using the term escalate out of context.

Talking to Rialto Driver he had an EV on Order got a delivery date for September .He rang the Salesman this morning and was informed the status of his order is provisional as they have not had conformation of their order yet from the Factory .They were due for conformation 3 months before delivery .

I don't mind waiting if it's a guaranteed delivery date for a vehicle but it's the constant price increases that are making them a shit buy IMO.You have to remember you are also in the market against people who used to buy Beemers and Mercs in that price bracket of 40/50k.They'll pay anything regardless of price increases.

Also I'd have to upgrade to Comp on me insurance so that's another €300 per year to factor in.I'd be broke..

Met a chap in an new MG5 and he says he's putting in €6 worth of leccy a day.Me Prius us barely using €10/12 on a long shift. The advantage of these EVs are being eroded by the leccy price increases.By buying one you're betting that petrol/Diesel is gonna keep going up compared to leccy prices and that's not a sure bet IMO.

Ah what happened to the little bit of optimism I used to have..

Rialto was looking at the VW .I wonder if the Garages are less interested in selling to the trade as it involves complex paper work with credit then deducting the Grant later when you get it and having to re draw your terms and Conditions .Orlath and Dave from the nice Gaffs behind Big Dommos Flats will pay cash or have Credit from the main dealers sorted .Not much use having a delivery date in September if you are near your expirt date and have to wait till Valentines day to get the car .Problem is used motors are getting expensive even though the Yen has crashed part work Jap imports are pricey .I suppose what you save on the currency you pay for in shipping .

Best we(yous)can hope for is another extension on vehicle age limits..Setting aside that I'd benefit from it it's the only logical solution to the problem of sourcing new and secondhand vehicles without putting taxis off the road and forcing current hybrid and potential EV owners into cheaper secondhand diesels.

Good compromise all round IMO.

Eamo has ruled out any further extension .He said it only encourages dirty diesels and the Customers deserve better for their coin .I think Eamo is happy enough with the taxi crisis it might restrict movement get drinkers and diners to remain in their constituencies and then walkatise the city center for tourists .From Kildare Street to Patrick Street its virtually carless and Dame Street to Kevin Street .Only Georges Street has no restrictions except for Bikie Bollards .

I don't recall Eamo ruling anything out Erm.Seems awful wasteful to he scrapping vehicles in better condition than mine to buy the rejects that were shipped halfway across the world on diesel cargo ships from Japan.Hardly an environmentally sound plan.

I predict this pro leccy policy will be watered down once the grant money starts to get scarce as the budget tightens up.

Some bloke on the telly said last week our carbon emissions won't be dramatically reduced even if every vehicle in the state went fully electric. It's all loada bollix as DMG would say when he pauses his meter..

It's still early days. You're referring to the ten year rule not more special extensions.

YES .But think of the Contradiction handing out Power Coins to drivers to renew electric and at the same time handing out stay of execution certs to the older more emissions creating vehicles .But its politics so it probably makes sense to somebody somewhere .I wonder if they replaced the Roofie with the proposed new roofie how much fuel they could save .Is Mr Anderson still the Chief Engineer with the Taxi thingey ?Grand Prix cars have smaller rear wings to slow them down than the area of the Roofie .
