Taxis out of Bus Lanes
« on: September 19, 2022, 07:58:35 pm »
I see on Twitter land  a cyclist who happens to be a Green Cllr had a run in with a taxi driver in a bus lane on St Johns Rd.
He is one of these cyclists who has cameras hanging out of his arse filming all those cars that  shouldn't be on the roads.

Anyway, what happened was the taxi was "too close" to him so said cyclists stopped and  shouted abuse , words like "what the fuck is wrong with you, "what the fuck are you doing", who knew such words existed!

Needless to say, social media is now calling for ALL taxis (as are many of the Green Cllrs) to be banned from using taxi lanes.

Its not the first time the Greens called for this.

Only the Irish could pair cyclists and their mortal enemies the double-decker bus in the same road space.

Bigger problem is e-scooters flying it down footpaths.

Had a look at the video. Taxi was a bit eager in fairness but the Green can clearly see a bus right behind the taxi and effectively he, the cyclist, can alleviate the delay by mounting the path for 15 seconds max. Dignity and respect and him fckin and blindin . Taxi didn`t help but Green cyclist was equally stubborn. A modicum of not so common sense was badly needed. Garda Traffic have him blocked on Twitter.

Restricting access to occupied taxis would make sense as it would encourage those plying for hire to drive against the main traffic flow i.e. towards higher levels of demand.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.
