Distracted taxi driver almost ran into ‘very visible’ Garda car while on the phone

A taxi driver was so distracted by his phone that he almost ran into a parked Garda car.  The near miss incident occurred after the driver “completely ignored a stop sign”.

Gardai urged other road users to not use their phone while driving after the taxi man “nearly hit the side of our very visible patrol car”.  “They were stopped and they were issued FCPN,” gardai posted on X.

I wonder was he accepting a job on one of the apps or just updating his Facebook?  Working hard for his virtual bonus points or something?  Silly boy.  I hope he can convert his virtual bonus points into real cash to pay the fine!

Taxi apps should be banned. Radio mics kept yer eyes on the road, but now Revenue are not going to give up the new info.

I did suggest to Minister Canney that he mandate RSA to examine how these apps work. As we all know if you don't respond within one tenth of one second you won't get any work. IMO jobs should only be offered to drivers who have been stationary for at least 5 minutes.

Saw a burd taxi driver...bleedin fordener...goin through a red at the Circle K lights leaving the airport...bleedin oblivious so she was!!
