What would you like Govt to do?
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

Probably as sensible as anything proposed by the union bosses.

Read an interesting article the other day - Uber's robotaxi edge: human drivers*

It's quite a long article but I think it's saying that Uber USA predicts us meatsacks will have some use for a while.  Basically, the robotaxis will do the mundane predictable Mon-Fri 9-5 while we'll cover the excess overspill like pubs kicking out or after concerts etc.  Then once the robotaxis have ironed out all their bugs, we'll ditch our taxis and be used for cleaning and maintaining the robotaxis in their depot.  Apparently we'll earn the same cleaning them as driving...

* just noticed I can't read it on my desktop computer but I could read it in my rss newsreader on my phone...

"
"Close to 100 bus drivers hired from South Africa by Dublin Bus have been assigned to menial depot work like cleaning and handing out tourist leaflets due to delays in processing their Irish driving licence exchanges

The Recruitment: Dublin Bus recruited nearly 100 professional drivers from South Africa to combat severe driver shortages holding up the BusConnects network expansion. The Hold-Up: Administrative blockages and paperwork delays regarding the formal exchange of their driving licences have left these qualified drivers unable to legally operate buses on Irish roads.Depot Duties: Instead of driving, the recruits have been deployed to clean bus depots, sweep yards, empty bins, and hand out tourist leaflets.Union Response: The National Bus and Rail Union (NBRU) criticized the situation and warned management that it would take appropriate action over the utilization of skilled transport personnel for non-driving depot tasks"
"Most of the taxis, and most of the whores are only taking calls for cash"
