After discovering a hidden talent for the game of footgolf, a Dublin taxi driver has said that he’s found a way to feel less isolated after the many late-night shifts that come with his profession. John Cleary (61), who lives in Santry, has been a taxi driver for 19 years. He started playing footgolf 14 years ago and has gone on to become national champion and to represent Ireland.Footgolf is a hybrid sport where players kick a standard football into a 21-inch diameter cup.... “In Tallaght, I was sponsored by Freenow by Lyft. You’re sitting on your backside for hours, there’s very little exercise. This kind of thing can get you out into the fresh air.”
