The rates are set by NTA and the Gardai are responsible for vetting, TD42. Not a lot Uber can do about the huge number of rapes/murders committed by Irish taxi drivers but there's a better chance of them being caught if they are commit the offences while covering Uber fares... assuming the offences are reported to the Gardai.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

http://www.independent.ie/business/technology/uber-picks-expedias-dara-khosrowshahi-as-new-ceo-36075150.html   .This bloke likes to grow his business by buying out existing players I wonder if he might consider buying Lynk and NRC to gain customers in Ireland then take on Mytaxi simply by offering full fares and PUC to drivers. Should see Mytaxi losing their drivers and customers to UBER especially with the superior software that both drivers and passengers would appreciate .

I thought that your money was on Meg Whitman ?

Uber ‘failing to report sex attacks’, police claim in damning letter (London Standard, Aug 2017)

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4741030/Figures-Uber-drivers-linked-one-sex-attack-week.html
Quote
How safe is your Uber? Growing concern as police figures suggest company's drivers are linked to one sex attack in London per week

Police figures show sex attacks involving Uber drivers up 50 per cent in a year
From February 2015 and February 2016, there were 32 claims made against firm's drivers in London
In the past 12 months to February 2017, that figure shot up to 48 alleged attacks
But Uber said such incidents are 'incredibly rare' and result in driver bannings
Getting old is compulsory whilst growing up is voluntary.

Logically it's up to the victim whether s/he wants to report a sex crime to the old bill. Strange as it may seem, many don't. Once reported it's up to the old bill to investigate and liaise with dispatch firms and TfL as appropriate. Murders are slightly different in that the victims never report them so it's unlikely that the dispatch firm would have any knowledge before the old bill get involved.

London is similar to here in that all Uber drivers are licensed by the relevant authorities. Perhaps the old bill need to look at vetting procedures relevant to licensing PH drivers?

Liam, Rats is indeed Not Roy, Roy ran his site as a poster and administrator together.
This new site has its own admin team of which Rats is prob head honcho and a few unknowns helping out.
But he posts as himself the poster, Not as himself the administrator.
