Given that EVs are proving to be extremely popular among taximen and taxi drivers should NTA provide free or heavily subsidised charging facilities with the cost covered through increased licence fees for FF vehicles to further encourage the transition to a 100% EV fleet. Obviously night drivers can't avail of low rates for home charging and it is noticeable that the vast majority of taxis operating up above in Dublin at night are still filthy, polluting FF cars. Such a policy as suggested would serve to level the playing field in that respect and would ensure continuity of service at all times in the event of general petrol/diesel/domestic electricity rationing on foot of energy shortages resulting from genocide in the middle east.

Popular  rofl, they are only popular because ya get half of it for free, got myself a Skoda superb estate and will be able to sell it and I'll get another when the time comes.

In my case the motor is costing 15,545 after grants + a car worth 7,000 so more like 2/3 price really.. but you're right as far as I'm concerned, I wouldn't be in the market for one at full price.

Given that subsidies are being reduced in response to the new unions threatening Ministers and civil servants it could make sense for NTA to look to other incentives like free charging that it could finance internally i.e. by increasing licence fees for FF vehicles.

That's what they're going for with higher kilometreage and lots more previous owners. The price of 2nd hand diesels is fucking crazy.

VRT calculator - which is always on the prudent side - gives current OMSP as €6,395. You won't find an equivalent one (2 owners, 286k kilos, in showroom condition) on Donedeal for much less than 7k.
