Wheelchair Association is a strong lobby group they wont stand for mobility impaired citizens having no access to the pub .Did you ever notice that all Paddy Power shops have wide doors and no step from the footpath into the shop .

Wheelchair users are typically in wheelchairs. In the unlikely event of a ban on taxis they'll have easier access to College Green than those who can, at least theoretically, walk.

I could well see them banning taxis from College Green.  Tried to get through there the other day coming from Pearse St and there was 13 taxis and 2 buses waiting/blocking me from getting through. 
Took me 3 sequences of traffic lights to get through onto college Green itself.  Traffic was backing up behind me.  And D'Olier St was backing up as well.

Might be best to ban us now so when it does get properly grid-locked when the Luas is running, we can say it was nothing to do with us!

I THINK the plan is no entry from Dame Street on to Westmoreland not yet sure if you will be allowed Pearse Street on to Dame Street no going on to Nassau Street from front of college .Possible you will have to go right onto westmoreland if you are traveling east/west .

I won't lose any sleep over it.  I suppose they'll get their way eventually?

An Bord Planala (?) knocked back their plan to ban all traffic travelling east/west (College Green) and told them to basically redo the whole thing.

I get paid to drive around College Green.  I generally avoid it otherwise.  If I have to drive another route, I'll still get for that too

Why do you care? As Watty notes you get the fare whatever way you have to go. Surely quality of life for those Dubliners that have yet to shoot each other and visitors to the city is more important than cars taking the shortest possible route.

Should be interesting when it opens.  Very brave opening on a Sat afternoon!

-- Looks like you'll be charged twice if you go across city since you've to get on and off different Luas trains.

-- They're quoting 28 mins from Stephens Green to Broombridge.  Using the NTA's taxi fare estimator website, it's quoting a taxi doing Cuffe St to Broombridge Rd in 17-30mins and a cost of €8-€13, depending on traffic.  If the Luas was €6 (€3 x 2), the taxi might be a better option.  Less chance of getting robbed or beaten up anyways

If they don't put a barrier on entry I'd consider it a free luas.Dublin Bus will see a bigger loss than us.

Used it a few times between the Point Depot and Bus Aras. Always felt like I was the only fukking idiot with a valid ticket.
