I think it’s pointless letting it operate on a cordoned off stretch of pathway, stick it out on the road, let people, bikes, vehicles, potholes all get in its way and we will see how well it fucking does.

If they want autonomous vehicles, everything that’s on the road has to go autonomous.
And 6 foot high fences all along the edge of the paths to stop pedestrians walking out in front of autonomous vehicles causing the most to stop nd not move again. Cyclists would need their own lanes too and have a lot stricter enforcement of the rules of the road.

Any violation would be a €5k fine.

Driverless trains would seem like a reasonable stepping stone but, then, it probably wouldn't make financial sense given the ratio of drivers to passengers.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

Those drivets get paid a fortune.
And you are right though, they should be the first to be automated. Parallel lines, stop at a station, doors open, doors close. Simple

Lookin forward to the union spiel if that transpires...."our members refuse to recognise these driverless trains...and furthermore we will not represent these drivers..less trains!!"..."here here!!"

Driverless trains in Singapore airport for a long time now, takes you close to the departing Gate,
You've to Walk Halfway to swords to get to the Ryanair departing Gates.

Aer Lingus/British Airways can be as bad, for Heathrow check in is in T2 and when airside you walk to the departure gate opposite the bar in T1.

They have a driverless shuttle thing in Stanstead too... been there for donkey's years.

Gargling with Big Dommo around 1987 in Kirwans of Benburb Street back in the day when Helen and Anna worked the truckstop any hoo I digress .They replaced the live music with a Jute Box you dropped in a shilling a played a tune .......but nobody ever danced not like when the band played .I remember Dommo saying they will do away with live music and DJ and replace them with Jute Boxes or driverless Bands if you like .Never happened .Just like Driverless cars looks like the future but wont happen .
