I honestly think the sneeze guards are pointless in regards to the virus so wont be getting one installed. And it seems they will cause more hassle when doing your suitability test etc I can take card payments so yeah maybe I will insist on card payments and then if I do get robbed I will only have a very small amount of cash on me.

How many times have you been robbed so far ?

Never, but now people can get into the car with a mask on. I have cctv in the taxi, that might have prevented a robbery in the past but now it wont make much difference if they hop in with a mask on and a hood on.
Taxi 1990 absolutely agree with you that hiding identity in public this is what is my concern. Remember you have a right to refuse a fare if a customer don't behave in civil maner or he/she is drunk or drugged.

Don'y worry, I will be careful who I let in but in the past it was easier to spot a scumbag, now they might have a mask on. Must update my security features. ;)

You don't think a large piece of plastic separating you from the possibly infected person is better than nothing?
I don't think you've really thought about it.

most of the screens I have seen have big holes cut out in them for handing over money or card, it should be airtight if you are going to go to the bother of getting one installed.  would you use a condom with a pin hole in it?

Except maybe Ken's diy screen.  That may require an engineers report or at least a few clatters around the back of the head to try knock some sense into him.

Did you not read my topic posted last Tuesday;
http://intaxi.org/forum/index.php?topic=12160.msg153773#msg153773

Which has since been updated by the NTA the day after.

I have a proper screen fitted now. (25 Euro).

Thats alright for axa to clear it,but how do you know it will meet NCTand suitability requirements ?
+1,

I'm sure there are quite a few different variations of screens knocking around that Axa customers have fit, OK by Axa but they all could not possibly be OK by the SGS man.
He who fears he will suffer, already suffers because he fears.

According to the NTA any Taxi driver insured by AXA is entitled to have a screen without a cover letter which will pass both NCT and suitability, or at least that is my reading of it.

Fair enough ken, looked like a big gap in the first pic. Is that a huge gap between the end of the screen and the centre console? Again if it is it renders that screen useless. Also, am I correct in saying that if you have a screen fitted you can only take max 2 pax with free now? That'll be interesting on a Saturday night when stuff gets back to some kinda normality.  4 20 somethings going to town. 1 cab with no screen or 2 cabs with. Which cab or cabs do you think they'll be ordering? I ain't rushing no where yet on the screen thing.

Not to mention the a/c which I use all the time. What exactly is the point of a screen? Some kind of psychological reassurance for the passenger or driver? Pure waste of time and money if you ask me.

When we do go back, we are going to be wide open for a robbery, this time last year no one would have been allowed get into the taxi with a mask on. now they have a great excuse to have one, then you feel a blade to your neck. are you going to ask them to remove it? after all its supposed to be for other peoples protection not theirs, so you can say you aren't worried about catching the virus.
At the moment 95% of the Taxi work is through app or dispatcher which is traced and the pax tend to behave themselves much better than the messy untraced street work.

There you have it! You know the drill . Again the SCAMDEMIC CON 19 can have second bottom and yes hiding identity will enable to identify ofender. This is why you have to get your helmet off when entering your bank or post office if you're motorbiker.

There is a big gap between the end of the screen and the center console fer taking cash or CC payments which is a bit too big fer my liking, but as I got it fer 25 Euro, Beggars can't be Choosers !
