Daly the NTA don't negotiate with terrorists.

The unions are so out of touch with the real problems in the industry they fail to have any impact anymore. They're too involved in the taxi rental business to be advocating for driver issues.

I posted already months ago that the NTA would likely give all drivers with the end of life vehicles another year instead of a twelve-year limit that the unions wanted (just for ten-year-old vehicles). Turns out I nailed it and I know relatively fuk all.

The fact that the media decide to ring Waldron or Vinny K every time there's a news story about the industry is irrelevant. It doesn't give them any extra clout with the department of transport.Thank fuk for that.

I think you're the deluded one John.....Dalyer has his pensions, the covid coin will eventually dry up....your car will eventually run out of time and your bank will run you from their door when you need credit to finance another car...although you seem shrewd enough to offer advice on how to default on credit card payments.

If IF and its a Big IF .If I was trying to get coin for drivers I would of went a totally different way about it .My pitch would of been for a few Grand per driver who kept their Vehicle Licenced and AVAILABLE to work not actually working ,and my reasoning would of been .In the event of an outbreak of the Virus in Dublin Bus,Bus Eireann Irish Rail or Luas it will be necessary that taxis are available to take up the slack .I would of put a Price on that Guarentee of service .We have been offered a free licence renewal and reduced penalty for reactivation and forebearance on age limits to Offer exactly what I would of been looking for a few grand for .By offering Free licence renewal reduced renewal fees and age limit extensions ,the NTA have achieved exactly what they needed a security of supply in case of any outbreaks in other forms of Public Transport .Join the Dots NTAs aim was to guarantee supply at the least expense to them and we handed it to them .

The NTA are responsible for National transport provision .They need to make sure if one part breaks down then another part takes up the Slack like when the Luas or Dart breaks down Dublin Bus will accept you ticket .They must of looked at the Figures from the Taxiwhatsit App and seen a lot of drivers were delisting .This would be of concerne to them as Taxi Service may be needed to cover if any of the Major Public transport services get any sort of derailment .I would of looked for a subsidy to keep my vehicle insured and maintained so we were available to react to any breakdown in the Public Transport services .But the NTA have achieved that for chump change offering free licence renewal ,Reduced fees to get cars back on the road and extending the age limit to guarentee no reduction in fleet .They can now inform the Minister For Motoring that they have in place a taxi contingency plan in case of disruption in any other Public Transport Service and it only cost a Small bit of Bronze .

I told you call that months ago. They already gave drivers an extension last year so all they're doing is avoiding unfair treatment to others.

John stick up a list of expenses that would ammount to thousands for keeping a taxi on standby for 6 months.

Couple of hundred at most plus insurance.

They could have just told us to sign on Jobseekers but they were very generous IMO.

Hal look at the Billion or more wasted in Renting out Private Hospital Beds and taking over City west Hotel and other kips as security against any failure in the Hospital System They had no problem throwing money at that so why not throw a few quid our way to guarantee a Transport System .If you think like a mouse you will never roar like a Lion .

350 a week
480 gross on top
My insurance is 320 a month
Can I earn that too
480 in a given 4 weeks plus 350 x 4 is your max. gross allowable earnings in the covid world. Deductions come after that, including insurance and every other outgoing you have.

So I'm working for 480 less my insurance 320

I'm on 160 and month or 40 a week
Great

All the things that the two recent protests were about, abandonment of TAC,weekly allowance for drivers, buy back scheme etc etc are they even been considered by government,or are they just dismissed as usual ?

For Fuck Sake Dalymount when the fuck are you going to Cop the Fuck on .The Dep of Transport make policy and a gang of Fucking idiots marching up to the top of the hill and marching down again wont change anything ..The Minister appoints people to the TAC to rubber stamp what the Department want .Why would taxi drivers get special treatment if you cant work you get the same as everybody else based on your previous earnings .BUY BACK what a taxi licence is,is only a licence to renew a taxi licence for another year it has No financial worth .The High Court Judge actually said A Taxi licence is not a licence to work as there is no imperative on the owner of a Taxi licence to work that Licence .Same with the bolloxology of calling for no more licences to be issued .The Supreme Court has upheld that the Minister cannot restrict the issue of licences only the Vehicles that Qualify for licencing .Thats why there are age and size standards for Vehicles .Asking for an extension in the vehicle age just makes sure there are plenty of vehicles available for owner Drivers or renters to work and that suits the NTA .So think about what we got 2.48 a week for Saloon Car drivers and 1.23 a week for WAT drivers by means of free licence renewal or 4.83 euro a week subsidy if you want to replate your lapsed plate .The Cry was there are to many taxies the result was the NTA subsidised us so there would still be to many taxies .Really Dalymount you got to stop deluding yourself that taxi driving is some sort of vocation it is the exact same as a Courier only less skillfull as a cardboard box cant help you with directions .
jeezerm,I only asked a question

Ye see John....i took a different approach(each to their own anall)...i decided not to wait and see what they'd throw at us,the taxi biz currently is fuked and even with the crumbs of being allowed work and claim the PUP albeit capped earnings......gas thing is drivers like me will be the ones in the position to retain our licences and upgrade our cars while licence holders like yourself will continue to hang on and see what other crumbs might get thrown your way.....i haven't survived the 80's,90's,noughties and this shitshow sitting on me hole,if i get to 60 at this job(cos it's physical) i'll be happy although the 4yrs stamps will probably be fukall use when it comes time to retire..i doubt the state pension will be worth fukall by then anyway.....but i'll still have me taxi licence to fall back on!! lol

Drivers still dont see the Quid Pro Quo .To avail of the Free Licence renewal you must have an active taxi that includes taxi insurance .So like I said the NTA have incentivized you to provide them with a fleet to call on .You will pick up the tab for insurance and maintenance and supplying the vehicle to service non existent customers and they will reward you with 2.46 a week by way of a free relicense BIG WHOOPEEEEEEEEE .

You're working for what you make.
If your insurance is 80 a week, and all your other expenses are 100 a week, then you can 'earn' 300 and will then make 470.
