Sherrock becomes first woman to nail nine-dart finish

Fallon Sherrock became the first woman to hit a nine-dart finish in PDC history at the Winmau Challenge Tour event in Germany on Saturday.

Sherrock achieved the historic moment in her opening-round match against Marco Verhofstad in Hildesheim, going on to complete a 5-3 victory.

The Challenge Tour features non-PDC tour card holders who attended 2023 qualifying schools.

Fair play to any of them for maintaining concentration in the midst of all that noise. I remember a long time ago when I used to throw a few, and a Monday night player, who was very good, was heard to say, irritatedly, when he missed a shot, "who coughed".

Limerick's Willie O’Connor had the perfect start at the Players Championship 8 as he opened with a nine-darter in his 6-1 win over Jimmy Hendriks.

'The Magpie’ averaged 104.8 in the rout in Hildesheim, Germany and followed it up with a 6-3 win over England’s Cameron Crabtree.

Funny enough, she generally plays her best darts on the big stage which, as BS notes, is a noisy environment. However, that 9 darter was in the Development Tour which - like all run of the mill untelevised pro tour events - is played in a sterile environment with no noise/celebrations/silly trousers/etc allowed. Notably, she's failed to win a pro tour card several times playing in such environs.
