I didn't shop around or negotiate at all, SB... just paid what they asked for... which I can only put down to lack of interest/enthusiasm. But then again, would you ask a barman or a taxi driver for a discount... I wouldn't.

I was in a taxi other night African guy the fare was 720
I gave him 8
He replied no tip no?

I said I don't know anything about horses
Fucker asking for a tip?

Did you take the 80 cent back? or did he want more than a 80 cent tip?

its rare a taxi driver doesn't give another taxi driver at least a 5 euro tip.

I gave a sound Barcelona taxi driver a 15 euro tip, the fare was 15 euro, fuck it, its only money.

Rat--hard to beat Taxi-Fair who focus on FBD--50% in by 20th following month and balance in 30 days--job done  !
Prices been cheapest for me last 4 years !

Yeah I kinda concluded that shopping around would be a futile exercise. Last year (or the year before, can't remember!) BJP didn't even bother quoting once I said I was with Taxifair.

One work of caution with Taxifair though. The quote they sent me clearly states that my policy will renew automatically unless I advise them otherwise. One of the lads phoned me on the day before renewal to confirm that I still wanted it and to collect the brokerage fee. He suggested it doesn't auto-renew and would have expired had we not spoken... so don't rely on the automation process.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

"OK, what's your PSV driver number. No...that's the taxi number. What's your PSV driver number. No...that's your PPSI number. What's your PSV driver number. No...that's your date of birth ye cuntcha."

No so?
If it's under a Deuce I would take it just fer a birra piece of mind, but fer a Monkee or anything over a Deuce, I wouldn't be bothered, most likely it means nothing anyway.

Say you pay 2k fer insurance which includes a Monkee fer NCB protection and have an incident and a claim against you and the year after your premium goes up to 5k and you ring them.
The conversation goes like this;
"Why is my quote 5k ? I have NCB protection",
"Yes Sir, your NCB is still intact",
"So why is my premium gone up so much ?",
"Because you had a claim and the premium was loaded",
"But I had protected NCB ??",
"Yes, Sir and you still have",
"But why so does my premium go up ?",
"Because you had a claim".

Ok, I get ya. was the same in Spain, I got a taxi, he was on the phone throughout the trip, he wasn't very friendly and he wouldn't let me sit in the front, so he only got a rounded up tip, 60 cent or something, if he let me sit in the front and wasn't on the phone the whole journey, he would have got a good tip.

Did you ever hear the one that if you have a no fault car accident, your insurance might go up, because they think if you have a no fault car accident, then you are now a higher risk of having an at fault car accident.  :-[

I can't condone the phone but, in fairness, if I get 2 passengers, I generally shut up and drive.  If they want entertainment, they can talk to themselves!
Getting old is compulsory whilst growing up is voluntary.

A colleague of mine had a small incident and reported it to his insurance company, the incident was settled amicabaly without insurance company being involved, his next premium still went up and when he questioned it he was told it went up because an investigation had been opened on what he reprted !!

That depends, if the matter warrants the insurance company to be involved and you didn't report it then it's not in your favour but if no insurance involvement is required then defo best to keep stum.

That's what I was thinking.  If someone slams into me I'd give them the option of leaving the insurance companies out of it and pay for any damage themselves.

I did it myself at least 3 times, once where I hit a stationary car in my own car park and twice where minor damage was done to my own car. I got my own panel beater mate to do it each time fer a no invoice cash job. Luckily all 3 were decent citizens.
