Some Decent people.
I don't reckon that I qualify, but this might help;

Last Thursday night my First fare on the Graveyard shift was at 2am, it was a strange fare from a very elderly man at 2am in the morning from the city center (on a Student night) out to Bishopstown, he was a pleasant sober man and we chatted, he paid his fare in full and we parted our ways.
About Two hours later while ranked up and giving the Cab a 'Once-over' I noticed a wallet on the floor, inside the wallet there was a Fifty Euro note, a HSE medical card and a Cork city library card. I returned the lost wallet not knowing whom it had belonged to in to Anglesea street Garda station as is protocol fer taxi drivers to do.
I told the Guard in the station that I had no idea of whom or when the wallet was dropped. The Guard pulled out his HSE medical card and said to me; "The man was born in 1943, that would make him 74 today, any ideas ?"
I said; "Yes, I know the exact man, I dropped him in Bishopstown about Two hours ago".

Not meaning to disrespect the Gardai, but I'm not so sure of how rigorously they check up on 'Lost property', maybe they do check out all lost property cases or maybe they just throw it in a box and wait for it to be claimed.

Is'n'anyways, I emailed Cork city library with my tale the same morning telling them the mans name and approximate address and asking them to ring him to tell him where his wallet could be found. A lady from the library emailed me back telling me that he was not picking up her phone call at 9am. I replied to her; "He was up till 2am, most unlikely he will will be up now !"

She replied (Direct Quote); "You're very good-others would pocket it."
