All these referendums that have taken place I believe are absolutely nothing to do with the actuall issues.I have always believed that it is about young v old, conservitivitism v liberalism, and mostly I believe they were all to do with a backlash against the catholic church. Well thats my belief anyway .idont any of them had anything to do with contraceptive divorce, gay marriage, abortion, etc etc its just a rebellion by toung people against the catholic church, and alothough I voted against all of them, who can blame them for the way the church let them down

I'm not a religious person but it's easy to focus on all the negatives associated with the Roman Catholic Church of late. There are, of course, far more positives. The RCC provided most of us with schools and was at the heart of Irish society for many years. Yes, there were scandals and they were badly handled but there are thousands of RCC priests who have done nothing but serve, support and build communities to the best of their ability.

True, but this is lost in the cultural Marxists' game. Refined socialism abhors religion...except the one created by the missionaries in Africa and Asia...Islam.

The RCC is a joke.the only reason they provided schools in Ireland was because the government let them. The people were happy to give to the collections every week in church to fund the Church and all its doings.

It hid, moved and mismanaged the wrong things it did, with the help of the government and the police so screw the church.

They abused us and misled us for years so I’d be happy to see the back of some fairy tale story made up many many years ago

Organized religion should be banned the world over.

Henry the eight was a Catholic until he died....Lizzy the first created the Protestant church...Henry just wanted to ride another quare wan without the pope telling him if he could or not. 66 million Christians died in WW2....not a fuckin word about it............

World War 2 was all about the establishment of Israel....look at the dates and work it out yourself...ask yourself why the septics went near El-Alamein.

You are spot on lips. Henry 8th was a Catholic when he died as are all protestants. You don't need to convert to participate or become a member in a protestant church if you have been baptised in a Roman Catholic church. The vicar will add your name to the congregation on request. The only difference is Roman Catholics have the pope as the head of the church. Protestant church's don't. The church of England is headed by the monarch as set up by Henry VIII. Anglican churches are almost identical in their teachings to roman catholic church and the Presbyterian are stricter in their interpretation of the scriptures and dont believe in all the pomp and ceremony, nothing like a good hard pew to sit on. Every proddy church is different it is up to the vicar and congregation. Lower and higher churches or more liberal to stricter.

Hitchens, Dawkins,Harris, read and think. "The voluntary suspension of critical thinking" is the best definition for a belief in any of the Gods invented since the beginning of time ( and thete were hundreds of them, and alleged virgin births also) by people who were ignorant of most of what we now know.
"So look into the mirror, do you recognise someone, is it who you always thought you would become, when you were young?"

So if she's a swallower,
Is that considered to be cannibalism.
Should be next  on the list for another referendum to legislate against this practice
Ban swallowing
How many thousands killed in one swallow,
It depends on who is sucking and on who is blowing,
Some can't suck , others can't blow,
That's when it gets complicated to legislate.
A fuck it ,
Just stay with Pam,
The auld reliable.

Much as I hate to agree with you, DM, I struggle to understand that myself. Having visited some of their sites in Italy, I find the opulence on display quite disturbing. I also struggle with the concept of ritual worship. Surely God is more concerned with the manner in which we live our lives and how we treat our fellow human beings than whether we engage in repetitive rituals.
