Amazed at the low levels of knowledge of so-called professional users of the road.

- There's no such thing as road tax, it's motor tax (www.motortax.ie might be a hint!).  Additionally most cyclists also pay motor tax as they have cars at home (incredible, no?).

- A huge portion of cyclists are also fully insured (http://www.cyclingireland.ie/page/membership/insurance). Gasp!

It's great to start ranting about the behaviour that can be witnessed on the roads by misbehaving cyclists.  Let's just gloss over the socially acceptable (but infinitely more dangerous) red-light jumping, speeding, mobile-phoning that so many people do when they're behind the wheel of a car.

FTR Hooya, Taxi drivers are NOT Professional drivers and never were.
A few just happen to have CPC qualifications.

They like to say we are professional drivers to rob us of more hard earned money. The NTA that is

There's a simple solution just keep bicycles off the roads, if they want to use them well then they should pay road tax.
A 'professional' driver who thinks he pays road tax? Jesus wept.
Taxi drivers are NOT Professional drivers.
No qualifications.
Although a criminal record is rarely a barrier!

Here's  a guy who ploughed my car and wrote off his own too.
The Judge left him with no penalty points or record.
Just to pay me €500 as an act of contrition.
He then went on to this:

He's still driving!

06.04 in the morning.
It's not a bus lane.
So it's alright to run him over so. Grand job, glad you clarified.

Welcome to all the newbies who have nothing better to come onto a taxi drivers forum and slate us all for the actions of one driver. That driver done wrong and actually may not now suffer th full wrath of the law as he won’t get a fair trial. He has been hung drawn and quartered by everyone, myself included.

We are not all angels on the roads, pedestrians, cyclists, drivers of any cars but we all need to be vigilant and respect esch others road space. Cyclists need to use the cycle lanes for their ow;safety, yes some of them are in shite, some of them are only lines painted on a footpath but so are the lanes on a road, some of them are in rag order too.

And Hooya, piss off with your reporting of a post. If ya don’t like it here fuck off. Why do you think none of us are on cycling forums, because every hate most of yiz on the road ya poxbottle

Laffin me bollix off

Cyclist in the wrong imo
Please explain? Driver has two goes at hitting cyclist, succeeds at second attempt and drives away i.e. hit and run. How is it the cyclists fault? This should be good.

Did I say that?
I am saying talk of bus lanes is irrelevant as it not a bus lane at that time.

:2cheers even when the bus lane is active :

If they wanna race around at 40 to 45 kmh undertaking traffic they should be forced to wear full faced helmets along with elbow and knee pads. Also mandatory bull bars on all taxis..It might cost us a few MPGS on the Prius but we'll look cool.

The way these lads fly around you'd think they were the first generation of cyclists  to ever grace the roads.Bicycles have been around a long time. Most of the fatalities involve a cyclist being in the wrong part of the road.If ya wanna do motorcycle speeds you should at least ride defensively. No point cycling in the middle of the road then crying when someone beeps at ya.Like I said we like cyclists..
In 70% of road collisions involving cars and bikes, it's the car drivers fault. Since when is a bus lane the middle of the road? The person who SHOULD have been in the middle of the road in this case is the taxi driver, who was illegally driving in the bus lane as he had no fare on board. The road was empty he had plenty of space to overtake safely but chose not to.
2 points Cúchuaillain,
1 .It may be the cars fault but there`s no sense in being 100% right and dead or paralysed. All cyclists should treat every car as a life threatening incident waiting to happen.
2. The taxi is NOT driving illegally in the bus lane as it is allowed while en route to a job or if plying for hire.
