Never drove a Mercedes as a taxi.
Probably before your time. The legend goes, A Merc broke down in Phoenix Park, the colour escapes me. A fellow cabbie was radioed to help, unfortunately, it was a clone. An eagle-eyed Garda spotted the anomaly.

It helped silence a once outspoken rep allegedly.

You seemed to have such a wonderful time with the old-fashioned cab companies I'm surprised you didn't stay.

Mercedes cars weren't before my time. There's still a few in use as taxis today in fact:

Model Report : MERCEDES BENZ

1.   E SERIES   191   42%
2.   E220   50   11%
3.   E 220 CDI   41   9%
4.   E220 D   36   8%

I was almost full-time back then. Free Now freight works out at c.€4/hour without ambassadorship, priority or any gold stars and without attempting to maximise turnover - currently I only serve residential addresses i.e. no pubs, offices, hotels, car rental sheds, DAP pickups, etc... If I was doing more than 20 hours I'd probably go back to C2K.

Cloned Mercs were probably before your time.

Looking at your Merc list, not many workhorses 300D's.

To be fair, the odd cloned car wasn't a huge issue prior to entry liberalisation. The then unions managed to maintain a regulated trade for over two decades, a lot longer than comparable trades.

Did they say how much freight he paid? I remember when we could do as much work as we wanted for €80/week.

@ 10% , FN did 870.2 fares without startin an engine.
