Allergies
« on: March 09, 2023, 09:09:49 pm »
Had a chap in the car yesterday in the car, mid 70's or so. I offered him one of my lidls pretendy tic tac Mints. He says, nah, yer alright. He seen, I think, that I was a tad taken aback by his abrupt refusal of my offer. He then tells me that when he was in his 20's or so he suffered a lot from migrane headaches.  He went the doctor and got all sorts of tests and it turned out he's allergic to mint. Polo, wriggles, spear mint. We gots to talking about gout coz I have it. I was led to believe beer is bad, wine is not bad, for gout. I hate wine. I like beer. He tells me pisner beer does not affect gout, something to do with the sugar content or something.  But I never heard of a mint allergy before.

You'd be surprised what some people are allergic to, myself it's candles and most perfumes, it ain't funny at times specially when you pick up some women that just had a bath in the stuff.

Oddly enough friend of mine who I do a lot of fishing with was diagnosed a few year back to a white fish allergy.

It's a funny ole world...

Sounds like gout alright ox. That's where I get it, my left big toe. I'm on medication for it now. One tablet every day for life. Seems to be working.  Even had a few pilsner beers last night coz I'm getting brave now. Hope that chappy was right about the pilsner and I'm not hopping about the place in a day or two.

As a sufferer for nearly 30 years ----its in the genes I am afraid ---

Avoid anything with preservatives as it preserves the purines---drink 2/3 litres of water everyday --

Personally black pepper--ginger--lemon juice --cheese --are all red flags---it always attacks when over tired and under exercised

They put you on Allopurinol to lower blood sugars but last few years I an on Colchicine which works well and lets me away with odd error in my ways--

I'm on the allopurinol and I have colchicine to take in the event of an attack.
