Hi Guys,
Would a Taxi pass the SGS test with a dent in it on rear Quarter Panel ?? .I touched up crack with dent paint and pushed out as far as i could with a mallet .A Drug addict on the Quays kicked car as I was moving in traffic.I got a quote of €750 to fix it and 3 days off the road .If I go through insurance ill be locked in for 5 years not a chance.

Would they fail it with a dent?

I got a couple of dents repaired before my LRA earlier this year,

Which company did you use? ,That sounds better then €750

I live in Drogheda btw,
Viktors..086 8773233
He spent about 3 hours on them on a freezing January day....he says they're about 80% but when i rub my hand over where they where i can't feel anything,
I did get 3 or 4 other quotes looking for €160 for each one,i think access to various body panels(some are double panels) can affect cost also.

As far as I remember anything over 10 mil deep and roughly the size of your hand is a fail.
Suppose it depends on how big your hands are.

Or the Tester's

I got a serious head size hole out of me bumper with a kettle of hot water and a piece of wood on the inside. You'd be surprised what you can fix yourself. It's not perfect but it's a taxi and it wasn't perfect when I bought it.
-
Or you could use duck tape, that stuff fixes anything

I got this item in the post this morning and with the help of me Chungwan we did manage to pull the small dent to almost un-noticeable and she (qualified nail salon professional) painted it up as there was a crack in the paintwork too with an old touch-up Toyota Silver brush I bought on ebay years back and she buffed it off to almost completely un-noticeable.
Mind you the equipment is very light touch, the trigger on the gun broke easily but you could still easily push the glue stick in manually. And Two of the 'Traction Gasget's' broke in half while being used, so it is very light touch.
But fer a Fiver, it did a fine job on a very small dent fer me.

Booked and paid for me SGS last week 29th Feb and I was Tax Complient.
Anyways go to Greenhills cenmtre on Tuesday morning and the guy failed me because the TCC was not cleared, he also said he would have failed me anyway because of the fact my meter sits in the pocket in the middle of the dashboard and the door is closable, he told me that this cannot be allowed as meter has to be visable at all times, told me to either PLUG the receiver Hole or remove the door.
Anyways went home and got in touch with me accountant and he was able to get me cleared in about 1 minute , says the revenue sometimes do this without warning for no reason at all !!!!
So back tonite at 5.50 for confession part 2 (less €30), but please take note
1. Check your TCC on day of inspection
2. Make sure your Meter is not in a compartment that can be concealed

@STC's
That's ridiculous re the TCC,when you ring and book your LRA,they only give you an appointment based on you having passed your NCT and being tax compliant....the only document you need to produce on the day is a valid Insurance cert,
I do ring my accountant prior to ringing for an appointment to make sure all is in order with revenue, she sends me a PDF of the online cert.

You need to have tax clearance on the day of your test as well as the booking date.Just unlucky.
Separately you are supposed to have tax clearance for everyday while your plate is active.

Ye supposed to ring everyday to make sure Revenue haven't rescinded compliance?Revenue should be contacting people who were tax compliant to explain why they are not anymore.....if i pay my taxes and my accountant sends me an online copy of the TCC....i'm assuming i'm tax compliant......until i'm not.

That is kinda what I was thinking !

You can check it yourself on the ROS website with the correct passwords. That's probably how your accountant is doing it anyway.I'm my own accountant...sounds great until the audit comes.

Got passed out today for another year also in Greenhills. Stream of people going in to sit the skills test while I was there, must believe the biz has a future.
-
It was the same in Ballymun NCT center the last time I was there.I'd love to get a copy of the Freenow sales pitch to newbies. They must be telling the new lads how they have top earners getting 112k a year.Even with 600/700 expenses for renters 1500/2000 seems like a good deal.
They're spending big money on radio adverts to attract new drivers and more recently more passengers.Type driving jobs into Google and a freenow recruitment advert comes up.Same with all the job sites.I was on some other site with nothing to do with driving and a small video started playing in my browser and it was a recruitment advert for Freenow. They're expensive adverts.
Also there are also lads out there telling customers who are potential taxi drivers they're making big bucks. It's only big bucks if you have low overheads.

There should be an app, like the driver check, where we can check our tax status and it’ll send us an email if we aren’t

Revenue always inform you (or your nominated agent) if your tax clearance is withdrawn.

Well i was not informed
-
Was your agent? They send a notification directing you or your agent to check correspondence via ROS.

When I rang him he didn't say, literally got me back up in a matter of seconds, the cnut probebly knew all along.
-
I'd say so. Revenue aren't noted for acting "in a matter of seconds"... probably thought he'd have it sorted before you noticed... and almost did?
