If you were knocked off completely maybe you didn't fill out the eligibility form?
If you were dropped to €203 it was because after deductions you earned less than €200, however it looks as though that's going to be looked at for the self employed

SW looked at your 2018 returns and from 30th June (?), you stayed on the €350 or got bumped down to €203. So we all saw the result yesterday, 7th July. I got the €350.

I think you have until Mon, 13th July, to confirm you'll stay on the €350/€203 scheme (if we're both thinking about the same thing).

A simplistic explanation:
Lets say you said you made12 grand profit in 2018
Then claimed 10 grand write down (40%) on a 25 grand vehicle.
As far as welfare is concerned your "pay" was 2 grand for the year
Government seemingly realise this is an issue and are re- considering, currently the solution seems to be getting your accountant to send accounts for this year proving your earnings are higher

You don't have to claim accelerated depreciation. Depending on how long you intend to keep the car straight line could suit better. I wonder what Revenue/Welfare would do if you logged into ROS and amended your return to straight line citing an EOD as not working full time hence not entitled to consistently apply accelerated methodology consistently through the asset's intended lifespan.

He always supported the taxi business. He was one of the very very few politicians who marched with us and spoke at meetings.

Fair play. It must be like pushing a very heavy rounded stone up a steep hill now with the likes of yourself, SB, DM et all telling all and sundry how unsuited to the new normal we are. I bet there's times he wishes - in the kind of unparliamentary terms only our Minister could appreciate - ewes would shut the fuck up!

Well chased up the Dept today and as ever things are not as simple as they made out re previous earnings in 2018 !
Me being the smart ass that I try to be have made my 2019 return as I knew I owed them nothing as I did very little work last year due to illness and my net was under 10k hence I got down graded !
Good guy I spoke to said the payment was likely to regularized in August ,ie if you want to stay on a payment you WILL have to apply for Jobseekers and go tru the hoops--he added that there was wide spread abuse of the payment criteria especially by the GIG economy ,which he feels will be followed up before!

I have never suggested that. On the contrary I have thanked drivers - both on a personal and on a general level - who provide a service while you and your ilk slag them off.
However, I have commented on what the new normal might look like. Govt can't ignore drivers like you slagging off your colleagues while spreading the virus around bars, supermarkets, pharmacies, beaches, etc... nor can it ignore trade bosses like Vinny Kearns who agrees with you and is far better placed to / at vocalising the same.
