Post by: John m on June 26, 2022, 04:30:54 am
Bought Diesel last Monday for 202 cheapest average now is 210 mostly 214 so Fuel prices up between 4% and 6% in a week .Im a cruised dont usually rank but I have started to notice some Me Taxi lads parking up in housing estates creating a plot for themselves .I wonder if you have ambassador and Priority do you always get first refusal if you stay local .

Pick up ....arrive at destination....and wait for next job ...

Looking for urban  jobs mostly  to avoid traffic

I do the odd airport but mostly refuse .. too much empty miles on the motorway...

Avoid fatties   on street hails

I reckon I used about €12/15 worth of juice the other day with the aircon in about seven hours. The lads in the bigger diesels must be using over €30 a shift.

Octy city driving is where your Prius does the best mileage. The aircon is fairly efficient too. We'd be crying to Joe Duffy if it wasn't so busy.

I wonder if the juice prices are deterring any lads from out of Dublin coming in and working.

Yea but if I'm stuck in traffic like I was yesterday going nowhere for nearly an hour on account of the pride ting that I forgot bout an walked into ....the engine keeps cutting in to charge the battery....yur gettin no regenerative deceleration wen yur not movin ...I reckon hybrid is inefficient in that case

Ah Octy tt uses very little power if it's in traffic. The air con when it came out was one of the most efficient ever designed. You should be still doing better than me as your heap is more modern.I make a point of running the aircon as the battery cooling is coming from the cabin vent.

Give Ya 3k for it!

Or 3 million jasmy coins? Whichever is easier..

You dont need air con really, it is Ireland not Spain. I dont even have air con, the cold air blower does the job. It broke in my taxi on Monday the hottest day of the year, that wasnt nice but got it fixed the next day. You couldnt drive in warm weather without the cold air blower but you can definitely do without air con in my opinion.

You must have a sweaty bollix if you don't have air con, I'd never have a car without it .
Mine is constantly on summer and winter

The dash on my yoke is huge and on a warm day it's like a big radiator in yer face.Combined with the dark colour paint means not using the air con isn't really an option.I'm in slow traffic most if the day and you'd barely get a breeze from leaving down the windows.

It would be handy when you get over 25 degrees but when does that happen. my next taxi will have it I suppose.

Talking to a mate last night who works in one of the Fuel Yards on the Docks .He says expect fuel rationing later this year .They have been told to Conserve Marked Gas Oil for industry and Electricity generation .Another friend I told about the Haz Chem ADR licence scheme during Covid done the test and also took the ADR tanker test .He was working delivering Domestic Heating Oil was last in and was first out as the company he worked for parked up two tankers as they cannot get heating oil to fill demand .Now the bit that makes fuck all sense .The Green Party welcome both the price and scarcity of Fossil Fuels as it helps to fulfill their demand for reduced usage ,they oppose any more  tax or duty cuts and will be looking for extra monies from the Minister for Finance to roll out more Cycle  Lanes especially in Rural Ireland .So you live in Longford no Gas supply you cannot get heating oil or burn Turf .Coal is 40 Euro a bag .A green Party Senator told a meeting of the Party .That there were very few Petrol Stations in Rural Ireland and people were wasting fuel when they drove to the Garage to fill up (Now wait for this ) Would they not be better off if they could cycle to the Petrol Station .Enjoy July and August make a few quid while we can .This government are lying through their teeth about energy supply.Mate says Government say they have 90 days strategic supply in reserve as required under EU law but what they do not say is it must be reserved .If they use any of it then the next delivery of fuel into the country the reserve MUST be topped up first .If you have Oli central heating I would be topping up now and if you have a bike then oil the chain .

Why couldnt they refill their tank or buy a few candles or get  a few cylinders of gas in reserve if they use them .Nobody is going to hold their hand .Mick from Cork is telling us everything is Ok no chance of fuel rationing Im telling you Government are planning for fuel rationing and possible ESB cuts .There are two different messages being put out one for Public Consumption and one to the Fuel Industry and they are not the same .

Read back over my Covid posts from thee Man who hired casual labour they were all correct months before the government actually announced them .I posted on this Forum there was a Pandemic on the way weeks before the Irish Media .I also posted that the Paddys Day Parade was going to be cancelled before any Irish Media outlet or that the Marathon was off .Anybody wearing a head could deduce from those cancellations that Pubs and Clubs were not going to reopen but Ministers kept putting off the announcement that everything was staying closed until the last minute .Ill tell you what could be done with the Information Some lads might consider taking up other employment if they have families to feed or Mortgages to pay .The Wheres me Taxi brigade that complain they cant get a taxi will be in the same boat .They wont be needing taxis so we wont be working .
