Didn't quite get the €30k I need for an EV yesterday but, hey ho, there's 3 days to go! I'd a reasonable enough day finishing €244.54 ahead thanks to a free tenner on Jazzy Matty, availing of Bet365s super enhanced EVs about Constitution Hill to the maximum permitted stake of €50 and "investing" the winnings from that on the jolly in the last. However, Cheltenham isn't Cheltenham without a hard luck story. I actually had 5 of the 7 winners on my first list but replaced El Fabiolo and Honeysuckle 'cos I decided they were too short for me cross trebles and free tenners.... had I not overthought it I woulda had 4 out of 6 and collected the guts of 4 ton off the trebles instead of getting nothing back for two winners (I left the Champion Hurtdle out).

On the subject of free bets, there's very few welcome offers about this year. I think (pending?) new regulations may have scared a few of the bookies off - I did see a blank "Welcome Offer" box on B365s www site which was labelled not available in your country of residence. Anywaysanall I did find a new shower called Livescorebet, opened my account, lodged my tenner and was rewarded with 4 free tenners, one of which went on Jazzy Matty. At the end of the day I withdrew my entire balace (€234.54) which is currently shown as "Pending". I'll not encourage Mrs. Catcher to open an account with them until it's in my Revolut account which I'm sure it will be in due course. Anywaysanall they've reduced the offer from today to 3 free bets. The only other one I've seen is the British crowd who now operate tote.ie... €40 free credit for a tenner bet, half of which can only be used on "exotics" which I think means anything outside of win or place.

Onwards and upwards... I've picked the 7 yokes that are going to pay for my new EV today as follows:

13:30 Hermes Allen 3/1
14:10 Gerri Colombe 11/8
14:50 Captain Conby 15/2
15:30 Energumene 13/8
16:10 Galvin 9/4
16:50 Third Time Lucki 10/1
17:30 It's for me 11/2

Done a Heinz without the doubles excluding the 15:30 instead of my usual cross trebles and added Langer Dan (12/1) and Nells Son (40/1) in the 14:50 for the placepot and Jackpot giving 3 lines of each, obviously excluding the 17:30. Aside from that I put the only free bets I have for today (€2 from Paddypower and €2 from Livescorebet) on Nells Son at 40/1 and 33/1 both BOG respectively.

Bring it on!

Edwardstone (15:30) is today's "Super Boost" from Bet365 @ 9/4... presumably to a max stake of €50. I don't fancy it myself and tit's currently trading at 2/1 on Betfair so only pennies to be had by laying it off.

Done it anyway... 50 on @ 9/4, 100/49 (after commission) laid on Betfair.... gives me €12.50 if it wins and costs me €1 (commission on €50) if it loses. 50 is the max stake, understandably I guess.

Contextually, probably... but 9/4 isn't really a working man's price. The other riff raff runner seems fancied - on foot of winning it last year, I guess.

Its not the Cheltenham it use to be .Back in the 70s or 80s you would be unlucky if there were 3 favorite's under 2/1 for the Whole Meeting now there are races with three horses priced up under 2/1 ..The only value now is the way you do it .Betting with free money .

Every race has a Winner .First you need to find that the price dosent matter .There is absolutely no Each Way Value at Cheltenham .Look at the Gig handicap yesterday first 5 home under 8/1 .

You're probably right, Octy... I managed to give back €99.30 yesterday, not to mention what I poured down my neck and half the contents of Mr. Wu's wok down the front of me shirt... at least I hope that's what it is!

Anywaysanall, today's another day.

13:30 Stage Star 9/1
14:10 Thanksforthehelp 7/2
14:50 Shishkin 7/4 (B365 Super Boost, max €50, single only)
15:30 Blazing Khal 9/2
16:10 Shakem Up'arry 20/1
16:50  Majical Zoe 8/1
17:30 Angel's Dawn 8/1

Similar to yesterday - a heinz without the doubles leaving out the 14:50, Placepot and Jackpot adding So Scottish (16:10) to give 2 lines of each.

Oh, I got my money from Livescorebet yesterday as well. I was a tad concerned 'cos I'd never heard of the firm before Cheltenham and when you withdraw from Betfair to Revolut cards the money comes instantly these days.

Despite only 2 winners, one short for my doubleless Heinz again!, the ups and downs of yesterday finished on an up thanks to a score on the last winner @15.5 with Betfair leaving me €253.30 ahead on the day, €408.54 for the week to date - and I didn't have a drop to drink so done a few hours in the cab last night and earned a few notes as well. Similar plan for today, watch the racing, afternoon nap and a few hours in the cab tonight.

13:30 Gala Marceau 9/2
14:10 Filey Bay 7/1
14:50 Three Card Brag 11/2
15:30 A Plus Tard 9/2
16:10 Bob And Co 20/1
16:50 Magic Daze 7/1
17:30 Iroko 11/2

The astute punters will notice two of Rachael Blackmore's in there... just thought that appropriate as Mrs. Catcher will be doing much of the punting with new Livescorebet and Tote accounts! As it's the last day I went big and stayed at home opting for a doubless Super Heinz covering all 7 races and throwing the the fav (#23) in the 16:10 to make 2 lines on the placepot and jackpot.

11/8 Doc... Probably tipped by every tabloid published, not a working man's price anyway.

Despite not winning an EV nua I didn't have a bad Cheltenham. To be honest not losing too much would have been a result but I finished €389.79 ahead, only dropping €9.75 on Friday, thanks to a shed load of free bets. Still. I like to have a bit of a moan so I will... I had two free tenners on the last @ 5/1. The industry SP was 6/1 (7.00) and BSP was 9.22 but the shower I had the free tenners with (Novibet) only settled at 5/1 i.e. not BOG. If I didn't have the free bets I woulda done it on the exchange and collected at 9.22 i.e. I woulda collected another 6 tenners plus my stake... ah well, not long to Aintree!

.... On the subject of free bets, ...... Anywaysanall I did find a new shower called Livescorebet, opened my account, lodged my tenner and was rewarded with 4 free tenners, ......
I had a peep, you need to lodge a minimum of €20 to open an account, bad start as the Bobo is only to lodge a Tenner.
Anyway I persevered, uploading the documents was the usual pain but easily enough done on the 2nd attempt.

I had my qualifying Tenner on the Italy V England DRAW tomorrow night @ 3.1 to get my 3 x Free Tenner bets opened and hopefully make a small few quid fer nothing before the 14 day qualifying time expires.

Not sure why you had to lodge €20, Ken. As per screenshot below I only had to lodge €10... but they sent me another lodge €10 get one tenner free so I lodged another tenner this morning that I'll squander this afternoon!

The one I forgot about is Novibet. They give you 5 free tenners for a real tenner bet... although I had another look at that this morning and curiously it says "full amount awarded on losing first bet only"... I didn't notice that when opening Mrs. Catcher's account (I done mine last year) but her first bet did indeed lose, in fact the yoke could be still running, she's bad luck, no doubt about it!

However she is waiting for a ton back for her tenner. She still has to verify her account, a process that is somewhat more complex than with most other firms requiring driving licence / passport, picture of debit card (obscured) and a utility bill / bank statement. Livescorebet and Tote only needed the driving licence and (believe it or not) Bet365 paid out on her account last year without any verification process being completed... but they seem to be excluding Ireland from welcome offers this year.

When I went to deposit it stated minimum deposit was 20 Euro.

Anyway me qualifying Tenner bet on the Italy draw was a loser and only 1 of the 3 Aussie 'hot-pot' nags I had the 3 x free tenners on won @ 4/5 and I threw the 18 quid on a few in-play 'hot-pots' to bring it up to 25.40 which I withdrew.

I still got 'The Hump' with the gambling world in general since my Brazil fiasco last December !
It wasn't the Duece n odd that it cost me as I made more than that overall in the tournament, it was the thought and planning that went in to that long odds Bobo bet and fer them to be 1/6 to qualify against Croatia and then a goal up at half-time in extra-time trading @ 1.03 only to go on and lose the match.

Weird... but, assuming you opted to receive future offers by email, I doubt you'll be waiting long for another tenner. I put yesterday's real tenner on a 11/10 winner and lost the free bet but then got another "deposit and bet" a tenner for a free tenner within an hour. As I had €21 in the account I decided to try betting without depositing and that worked. Alas, both the real money and free bets lost!

Hard to have any interest anymore as a Punter when the fav for the Pertempts @Cheltenham 24 runner handicap opens 3/1 having gone up 11lbs from its last run .Bookies are killing their own game .

I'm not sure bookies' margins have grown to any significant extent over the years, erm. I guess there's just a lot more information around these days so the top of the market is where the money is going to concentrate. For the most part it's the punters determining prices on the exchanges nowadays... just look at the difference between "industry" and Betfair starting prices, particularly at prices over 5/1ish...
