Didn't quite get the €30k I need for an EV yesterday but, hey ho, there's 3 days to go! I'd a reasonable enough day finishing €244.54 ahead thanks to a free tenner on Jazzy Matty, availing of Bet365s super enhanced EVs about Constitution Hill to the maximum permitted stake of €50 and "investing" the winnings from that on the jolly in the last. However, Cheltenham isn't Cheltenham without a hard luck story. I actually had 5 of the 7 winners on my first list but replaced El Fabiolo and Honeysuckle 'cos I decided they were too short for me cross trebles and free tenners.... had I not overthought it I woulda had 4 out of 6 and collected the guts of 4 ton off the trebles instead of getting nothing back for two winners (I left the Champion Hurtdle out).

On the subject of free bets, there's very few welcome offers about this year. I think (pending?) new regulations may have scared a few of the bookies off - I did see a blank "Welcome Offer" box on B365s www site which was labelled not available in your country of residence. Anywaysanall I did find a new shower called Livescorebet, opened my account, lodged my tenner and was rewarded with 4 free tenners, one of which went on Jazzy Matty. At the end of the day I withdrew my entire balace (€234.54) which is currently shown as "Pending". I'll not encourage Mrs. Catcher to open an account with them until it's in my Revolut account which I'm sure it will be in due course. Anywaysanall they've reduced the offer from today to 3 free bets. The only other one I've seen is the British crowd who now operate tote.ie... €40 free credit for a tenner bet, half of which can only be used on "exotics" which I think means anything outside of win or place.

Onwards and upwards... I've picked the 7 yokes that are going to pay for my new EV today as follows:

13:30 Hermes Allen 3/1
14:10 Gerri Colombe 11/8
14:50 Captain Conby 15/2
15:30 Energumene 13/8
16:10 Galvin 9/4
16:50 Third Time Lucki 10/1
17:30 It's for me 11/2

Done a Heinz without the doubles excluding the 15:30 instead of my usual cross trebles and added Langer Dan (12/1) and Nells Son (40/1) in the 14:50 for the placepot and Jackpot giving 3 lines of each, obviously excluding the 17:30. Aside from that I put the only free bets I have for today (€2 from Paddypower and €2 from Livescorebet) on Nells Son at 40/1 and 33/1 both BOG respectively.

Bring it on!

Edwardstone (15:30) is today's "Super Boost" from Bet365 @ 9/4... presumably to a max stake of €50. I don't fancy it myself and tit's currently trading at 2/1 on Betfair so only pennies to be had by laying it off.

Done it anyway... 50 on @ 9/4, 100/49 (after commission) laid on Betfair.... gives me €12.50 if it wins and costs me €1 (commission on €50) if it loses. 50 is the max stake, understandably I guess.

Contextually, probably... but 9/4 isn't really a working man's price. The other riff raff runner seems fancied - on foot of winning it last year, I guess.

Its not the Cheltenham it use to be .Back in the 70s or 80s you would be unlucky if there were 3 favorite's under 2/1 for the Whole Meeting now there are races with three horses priced up under 2/1 ..The only value now is the way you do it .Betting with free money .
