Mo chairde,
My name is Dr. Abdullah Al Bayyari, though I'm not a taxi driver since I found out about the 12-15% commision charged by the foreign companies that run the market I've been disgusted and frustrated. Last year I finally decided to take some action and now I'd like to inform ye of the app I have ready to launch, we just want to secure drivers first:
The corporate greed we’ve been seeing from Uber and Freenow is exactly what has lead me to create Anseo - Taxi Service, a nation wide taxi hailing app that maximises profits for the drivers with a commission of only 4.5% per ride. No sign up or monthly fees.
Together with the taxi drivers of Ireland we intend to challenge the high commission, hidden fees & cultural irrelevance of apps currently controlling the Irish market. To be a fair and exciting alternative to drivers and users, while in the long term spreading Irish culture, events and even some Gaeilge while we’re at it! This is what I believe makes us different to other apps currently coming out, we have a very strong marketing plan to become exciting and relevant to customers.
Please read our attached flyer and consider joining us through our website anseotaxi.ie/Taxi-Drivers!
Though our user app is already available, at present our goal is building the number of registered taxi drivers prior to launching to the public. As i'm sure you can anticipate with us, customer retention will be our greatest challenge and risking launch without enough drivers means users having unfulfilled requests and soon after uninstalling our app.
We're offering 3% commision for 3 months for the first 5,000 drivers to sign up to help this phase along.
With patience on our side, launching when we have a strong fleet will help us achieve our goals.
Thank you for your time reading this message and please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions either here or by email info@anseotaxi.ie.
Le meas,
The Anseo Team

Can you post your business plan ,What are your projected earnings per driver for first 3 months ,6 months and into the future .How do you propose to finance this enterprise ?How much funding have you secured ? Where will the App be registered for data Retention of both Drivers and users .Who will handle funds owed or deducted .Who will own the Data of drivers and Users .What security protocols do you have in place for security of Data .Do you hold a valid dispatchers licence .If required to retain funds of drivers for tax compliance have you secured tax clearance ?Where are you registered for VAT ?
So Mr Abdull it would be great if you could post your business plan in full with Business Progression Statistics and all necessary licences or licence applications before you make a blind pitch for drivers .My pal Big Dommo who lives in the Flats near the Church beside the Bookies and Chipper use to sell Snake Oil .I could recognise Big Dommo in a Crowd !

I think Doc is looking for drivers, not investors, erm.
Personally I'd be more interested in the co-op. Yes, commission is high on the commercial apps but they tend to use much of it to finance substantial discounts for riders. Currently, Uber - for example - habitually charges riders significantly less than it pays drivers. Obviously that can't and won't last forever. Free Now done similar but has now increased commission to 25% to achieve profit. Taking on the big multinationals is not as simple as writing a good app and publishing it, the likes of Uber can throw many millions of euros every day at buying market share. Even if you can achieve what you might consider to be viable market penetration you have the chicken and egg scenario to navigate first. Drivers won't sign up if there's no work and riders won't use it if there's no drivers.

Jus sayin 1990 .... ide like to ask em why a doctor is " discusted and frustrated " at high commission for taxi drivers for an industry he doesnt work in ?
Its certainly not a great business to be gettin into wen its gone to fuk .....in the absence of a big payment to join up we can probably rule out a scam .....so ide really like to hear why hes pushing this an not more focused on pushin trollys inta operatin theatres......?
Has he ambitions in politics? Wats the motive?
Big dommo will know

If I was actually a doctor I wouldn't be telling a load of taxi drivers about it no matter how many years I spent in college. What's the point?

Right from the beginning I've refused UFF, or UUF's.
It allows us to remember how we used to work the streets and the pubs, and take 100% 0f the fare.

I found a much higher concentration of riff raff among street hails, at least in the northside suburbs, as rideshare platforms became the norm. There's not many you'd stop for on the Golden Mile these days after dark, I guess it's in the back of our minds that there's a reason they're not using an app like everyone else and a sense of security where they do use apps? I don't mind paying the 15% commission for the convenience of an app but 25% is too much for me so I've opted out of Free Now's Taxi Saver fleet. As I opted out of their hospitality fleet years ago and I don't cover DAA pickups for them there's fuckall left on it really, I'd be lucky to see 5 viable offers a week off it these days. Hopefully the co-op will make headway before Uber follows suit... or we could all be queuing in front of you to drive drunks home from bars. I've never understood men taking app jobs from pubs, I understand the riders using their apps in pubs because the fares are much lower than the men queuing outside would want but it's never been work I'd be prepared to pay for.
Do you add the PUC on to street/rank jobs? I've noticed a lot of men do these days... probably 'cos punters are used to it or, in most cases, wouldn't notice.

How you know that rat ?

I've experienced it as a passenger up above in Dublin. Genuine mistake on that driver's part, I suspect 'cos he rounded down what he asked for quite significantly... probably just habit if most of your work if for the rideshare platforms or traditional depots.
Just when SB says he gets 100% of the fare driving drunks home from the city I was wondering if that includes PUC.
-
I've been in a few taxis myself over the years and even the experienced ones have tried to overcharge me with the PUC off the street.Usually I'll say nothing but sometimes I'll remind them I'm a driver as I'm leaving without tipping.Hopefully they get the message.
Separately I picked up a chap from Northwood who I knew was a taxi driver from a previous fare and dropped him to his second job in Clontarf castle. He doesn't tip at all and he has two jobs and on both fares I charged the correct ammount each time.I'm guessing he didn't like My putting two and two together...My conclusion is some taxi drivers are just hungry cunts.

The Killer is my local, and I know most of the staff. There's a quid pro quo too. I often get an odd pint gratis for services rendered.
You'd want to be a real scaldy c*nt to charge a PUC on street hails.
Do you pity the drivers that have to pick you up from battlecruisers? 8)

Do I fuck. They might be working for Uber but they're Free Now!
