Has it ever been established wether or not, taxis are part of the national transport system ? This question has been asked before, but never really answered.its an important question, because if it's the case that we are part of the system, then we are being discriminated against by the NTA.for example no taxis allowed near the park for the papers visit, only buses, not allowed through certain parts of town in the mornings, only LUAS etc
-
Take the day off.Teach the NTA and Ross how important taxis are.I'll not be working anyway.A decent Friday ruined by traffic restrictions.
-
The Answer is sort of /kind of or possibly maybe .A taxi is a licenced vehicle licenced by the state to carry passengers for reward .That is the beginning and end of it .The only difference between a taxi and any other car is you can charge for a lift and your vehicle is available to the public .They can choose to use you you can choose to take them or not within reason .We are not part of the National Transport System as we have no Public Service Obligation .The use of taxi ranks and bus lanes are only granted to us by the relevant local authorities on a goodwill basis .As far as I know there is no legislation granting us absolute right to bus lanes we are covered by the exact same rules of the road as any other vehicle .I do understand your point about the pope visit Busses are allowed so we are being discriminated against or are we?If the busses are Free then there is no commercial gain .

Yous seem like the type that might wanna see the Pope unplugged..Take the day off lads.Head up to the Phoeno with yer wheelbraces in the air like a cross.Be around yer own kind..
-
Well I'll certainly be going to see the holy father, and I make no apologies to anyone for it.i was just listening to Joe Duffy show, where people were saying in some cases they were intimidated for declaring they were mass goers.well I'm also a mass goer and I won't appoligise for that ether so there
-
It will be full of blacks anyway..when I lived in Blanch they were the only ones getting dressed up for Sunday mass. The rest of us were hungover or still in bed.Won't be the same as the last Pope visit.
-
Well I do notice every Sunday, particularly there is a lot more Indian people ,some even participating in the mass
-
Ya see I knew ya liked them foreigners.Next you'll be sending them Xmas cards.
-
I bet RTE will be interviewing all the immigrants at the park to show how diverse we've become, telling us its normal..Kinda like St Patrick's day for the Popes followers.
-
MFH I think you have misunderstood my position all along.i do not dislike foreign people per say,but I have a major problem with multiculturism, and the loss of my national identity ,culture, and heritage. None of these things have been taken from me by any foreign national, they have been SOLD by the people who supposedly represent me IRISH POLITICIANS under pressure from the immigrant council of Ireland

Daly they're down on Andrew street beside Salamanca....drop in and give them a piece of yer mind.Or ya could fuk a loads spuds through the window..so they know what's up.

I believe they are well aware of my views, because just like you,I am not afraid to say what I think, and I have shared my thoughts with many tines

we are indeed part of the national transport sytem a.k.a, the national transport authority. You don't even own your plate. The NTA does but you are allowed use it. That was the spoof dreamed up as part of the no more transfer of plates.
-
Well then if we ARE part of the national transport system, are we not being discriminated against insofar as we cannot compete with the LUAS at certain times in the city,we cannot compete with the bus service for the pope's visit etc
-
you don't want to be anywhere near The Paedo in the Phoeno part 2.
90% of people there will be bussed to it and bussed out of it back down the bog.
-
Heres another answer for ya...they don't want some mental patient in a taxi getting close to thousands of people where we can run over load of pope fans.Maybe they don't like the pakistani/indian chaps that they found married illegally and may not be able to verify every taxi driver they allow into the park. Some may have questionable motives.
Did you know they're forcing the charity mini marathon organisers to hire private security companies and rent those concrete barriers to protect crowds now for every event. It's easier to keep taxis away from the event considering the security threat.Much easier to vet every bus driver rather than a couple of thousand cabs.
Are yis watching Sky news today some chap in a fiesta rams a barrier the the whole of London was on alert for a few hours.Hardly newsworthy but they're paranoid.
-
Yes, we should be supplied with identical uniforms,...... and caps, supplied with an identical wheelie bin for all, allowed a maximum 48 hour working week, given our shifts every month, tax deducted every week, apply for holidays 6 months in advance, sick notes, compulsory joining of The Fed, forced retirement at 66, but then great news we'ld have a pension scheme as well, but return the wheelie bin to the NTA.

We are the forgotten
only used to clear the streets when no one else wants to

We`re better off without access.

The NTA make it up as they go along.one we ,the next day we are not.they should have to declare wether we are part of the transport system ,or not.i feel the relivence of their answer will be important at some later date

Well said DM, seriously, be sure and say a prayer fer me while your there.
I'm not much a religous person but I did get to see J.P. doing mass in
St Peters square in Rome on the Sunday morning before the Republic of Ireland
versus Italy match back in 1990. It was a pretty enlightning experience.

Sure we actually own nothing Gooter.....the moment an item or thing is registered then ownership falls to the state.

As part of an integrated public transport system we should be happy to allow another more suitable part of that system service relevant demand.
