Let's have integrity in the Aras, someone of culture, with a track record of public service from humble beginnings, not a life spent in pursuit of lucre. Someone not afraid to speak their mind, someone capable of conversing with the humble and the arrogant. Who could that be. Who would want to take a job from someone who clearly loves every moment of it, and for all the right reasons?

I see Kevin Sharkey's apartment building is up for sale on the quays.I wonder if he's just looking for somewhere bigger to live rather than be the President.

Do you get paid if Peter Casey pulls out ?

"Independent presidential candidate Peter Casey has said he is going to take the weekend to consider if he will continue in the race for the Áras.
In a statement, Mr Casey said in light of the events of the past few days, he is taking the weekend off from the campaign to think carefully about whether to continue in the race."

He cant pull out .He can suggest to people not to vote for him the ballott papers are printed and the noms are in .Think he is playing a game trying to boost his numbers to try save his deposit and get expenses .Its a one horse race if Mickie D gets in on the first count then only Galagher and Ni Rida have any chance of saving their deposits .

I think he'll realise most of the country agree with him on the issue,i heard him being interviewed in Thurles yesterday,he said he was looking forward to speaking with Martin Collins from Pavee Point about the housing development that's lying empty cos no stables provided, but he was a no show,i was even more surprised to hear that travellers were organising a silent protest....that'll be a first!!

Casey is worth several hundred million.......he doesn't give a bollix.....he told some home truths and our Taoiseach came out and lambasted him. Beautiful gaffs in Tipp lying idle because there's no-one to take the horse to France.
Title: Re: President betting

Maybe the Council should release the houses to other families on the waiting list.....and then wait for the silent protest from the ethnic minority group.

Most of the candidates are minted and running was a vanity project Gallagher thought he had a chance the Shinner is just there to keep the brand alive Freeman is on an Ego trip the Dragons just see it as cheap advertising .Cant hurt overseas if your pitching for trade that you can say you once contested the Presidency sounds better than I sell nearly as much coffee as as someone else .Make more sense to raffle the job a ton a ticket any person holding an Irish passport qualifies to buy a ticket and the ticket money could pay to run the office .

The real value of the presidency the two leading political parties didnt contest it .Were a strange country we have one of the highest paid Presidents in the world one of the highest paid soccer managers we are a third rate or worse soccer nation but we have a National Soccer Stadium unlike Germany ,Brazil even the USA dont have a National Soccer stadium run by one of the highest paid chief executives .The HSE is full of managers but lacks doctors or cleaners .Who would want to be President there are plenty of nice toucher out there for the well connected man or woman but mainly man.

Peter Casey 80/1 with PP.

He said his piece and everyone disagreed in public, but when the voters have a private anonymous box to cast their vote in then they just might vote 'Anti-Knacker'/'Anti Social welfare scum' and vote fer Casey.

If'n the Knackers and Welfare scum voted then Casey would never get in, but they don't vote cos they are too busy robbing houses, drinking Dutch Gold, smoking Amber leaf and ryding their brother/sister.

Casey is fav to get the lowest vote he is on 2% with Duffy ...Yes there is a Fella called Duffy in the race not that you would notice on 4% Casey might catch Duffy bet might be Duffy to get the lowest vote @around 1/1 Casey was 4/5 market with Paddy .

Una Mullaly, from the Biased Times, has just ensured Casey will receive about 5% of the vote. The secular humanist bunny has been slagging him off. Casey knows he's flogging a dead horse but as long as he's upsetting wet libertards.....who cares?

The sporting wager is on the turnout Nobody gives a fuck which of the useless cunts get the job 34% to 39% is priced @ 7/1 has to be worth a tenner .Dont think to many are engaged with either the POresident or God is a Bollox referendum .As Iposted somewhere else this will possibly be the lowest turnout for any National Ballott .

@ Ken if you fancy a pres el bet ,betting without Higgins .Gallagher is 1/1 Higgins should win on the first count so there will be notransfer of votes so whoever gets the highest first prefrence finishes second or is the winner of the betting without .Talking to a fella working for Duffy said he really thought he had a chance if there was an anybody but Mickey D vote he knows he hasent a chance not even of saving his deposit and getting expenses he has withdrawn in all but name ..The value lies in the turnout I think it will be really low under 40% .Higgins voters thinkhe is home and hosed and everybody else knows they havent a chance so probably wont bother .

Are the bookies on Coke Gavin Duffy 5/6 to get less than 5.6% of the vote he will do well to get 1.6 % Him Gallagher and Casey competing for the inbread border county vote ,The cunts whoclaim to be Irish Republicans but spend their dole money in Newry or Armagh or any other shopping center north of the line If Casey does well Duffy cant
My guess for who gets what
Spoiled votes 2.5%
Duffy 1.5%
Joan 5.5%
Casey 8.5%
Ni Ridah 13 %
Gallagher 14.5
Mich the Poet 54.5%

Higgins Elected on first count Ni Ridah and Gallagher save their deposit and get expenses .

Be surprised if Casey hits double figures most one trick ponies have limited attraction and its unlikely Paddy or Sharon will leave the sofa to vote .Middle class voters will protect the Status Quo and Micked D will run away with it .Still looking @ under 40% turnout .Went over the Credit Union this morning poling station is next door but it was to cold to walk so I came home .

As Octy notes, his best strategy is to keep telling folk he has no chance of winning as his only hope is complacency among Michael D's supporters. I'm not suggesting he has any hope but then nobody thought we'd get the orange moron in the White House or that the British electorate would express a preference for Brexit.

The thin with the travellers is neither here nor there, he'd have fuck all power to do anything about them.

Adding up 180 won on Duffy being useless 100 lost on Gallagher finishing second  20 quid on under 40% turnout so won 60 and a pint off Ken .Powers the worlds biggest bookies wouldnt lay 1/5 about higgins or take 500 on Duffy to be the big looser .

Talikig to my pal works for Paddy asked about last nights football there was supposed tobe a huge coup on Limerick to beat Waterford Powers and Boyles stopped betting on the match asked him how much they held he said there wasent 1 single bet on the game .Its all PR total bolloxology .

No surprise that 20% of the population support his views, and no reason to think that it reflects very badly on Ireland compared to any other country. At least over 50% of a small turnout supported the man who was clearly the most qualified to do the job. I don't think it shows Ireland in any significantly different light thatn most other countries. A proportion of the 20% would have a variety of other reasons for giving Casey a vote.

Sure it's only 20% of 46% which is just a little over 8% of the general population.

Well actually 20% of 46% would in fact be 9.2% of the total voting population

**edit**
And actually 23.3% of 43.87% would be 10.22%

Yes, the bogus republican-cum-feminist party has been exposed finally. However, had the itinerants not stood firm outside the Tipp halting site with placards and attitude, Casey would not have gained as much as he did. Million quid gaffs lying idle with countless homeless....what has that to do with "tolerance"?
