No, not you E Crash.
Starting on RTE 2.

Hey E Crash, saw you dropping off at the airport this morning in a 2014 Merc.

Now I know what the S stands for in S-Class:

At least he's driving a car with plenty of Headroom,
He's using his hard and Wisley to improve  his comfort and standards in the fleet
He wouldn't fit in a pricus with his raghead.

What was the TV programme about?

Punjabi Gills have been in Dublin at least since the 80s, an old friend of mine is one. Another was murdered (or manslaughtered as it worked out) at his restaurant on Dorset St some time ago, extremely well respected by the locals by all accounts.

The most fearsome soldiers in the British army during the Raj.

It's only a car S.I don't feel much for them at all.I wish buying a fancy car was enough to stop me getting bored with the job. It's good to see ya getting pleasure from driving something you like. All I need is something reliable and economical that's cheap.

Nowhere else in Europe do ya see so many fancy taxis.Wonder why Dublin is so different?Might be the age profile of the drivers?

I was on me hols in Spain and all the taxis were Skodas, Dacias and loadsa Prius pluses.Only one E class. Most drivers were under 35.

Not so much around Malaga and Marbella. No Audis or Beemers or Lexuses.A few Superbs and the odd avensis but mostly Dacia Lodgy yokes, no regular Priuses just the bigger ones.Loadsa Octavias and a good few Toyota Auris hybrid estates.

I was in a couple of those Lodgies, are they available in Ireland or the UK? Funny really, I go to the costa del crime every year for a week or so and until this year I wouldn't honestly have been able to tell you anything about the cars taxi drivers use over there other than they are white with a green light on top - just paid a bit more attention this time as I'm being forced to replace my perfectly serviceable motor in January. Goes to show, your average punter doesn't give a flying fuck, A to B is all that's required.

It's an illness I have..my oul fella used to fix cars and I could name every model before I could write.Fuk all use now though..it is a pain on yer day off when all you can see are other taxis.

I think the Dacia Lodgy things are based on an older Renault like a Scenic as they look very similar.Dunno why we don't have them.

I'm just think we've a lot more high-end motors compared to other countries.Considering how expensive it is to live and buy a car in Ireland it doesn't really make sense.I'm sure there are Spanish taxi men making big bucks but they don't all go out and spend 40k on an Audi A6...

I think I'd like a Lexus but not because of the badge snobbery but more because they're really really quiet inside. No road noise. My older Prius is a bit noisy, especially because our roads surfaces are so shite.

A lot of self owned taxi owners prefer look and comfort when they buy a Joey.Durability and cost was my first choice like the Spaniards.

Yeah, I'm not really into cars, particularly modern ones. I only have one because I need it for work. I don't do huge kilometerage so I might go for a Renault Fluence this time as they seem to be relatively cheap on the second hand market but, then, maybe there's a reason for that?

Mercedes manufacturer E-Class specially for a Taxi.
Taxi drivers in Germany pay no tax on the on the new E-Class straight from the factory,
They can then sell them after 2 years

French, Spanish, Portuguese, Taxi drivers dive up to Germany to buy them at the right price,
A taxi plate in Spain, the Canaries, Ibiza, is €300,000,
Portugal over 150,000,
Mostly kept in the family.
They rent them to taxi companies.
Most Taxi drivers are local,
Never see Africans driving taxis in Spain or Portugal,

Never noticed their nationalities but the drivers can struggle with English.

I think if I was spending 30k and getting the VRT off I'd want the  bigger S-class version..

But seriously I'd wanna be getting ten years out of a 30k car to make it work.

The psv test or equivalent in Spain
You must have fluent Spanish
Same in Portugal,
Fluent Portuguese.

Fluent English should be required in areas frequented by tourists and in areas inhabited by criminals from the Republic Of Ireland and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Norn Iron... although, I guess in this technological age one can just use Uber or my taxi and put the destination in to eliminate the potential for ambiguity.
