Fair play. From what I recall the TV licence crowd were getting very heavy handed with you, CB. I bought a new one myself in a new name last month because they asked nicely. The previous one was only 8 months expired, I'm guessing you pushed them a bit further to get jail threats and all that kind of thing. Anyway, I done what I normally do i.e. waited for the man to call and politely request that I buy one within a few weeks or contact his office if not in a financial position to do that. The only difference this time (on account of COVID '19) is that the man didn't knock but just left a card saying he had knocked and got no response - he most definitely didn't knock. Anywaysanall, in general you can get away with 4-6 months at every "renewal" by waiting for the "detector van" and buying a new one in a different name rather than renewing the lapsed one. The form does say they reserve the right to reduce the period of validity in respect of unlicensed periods but they never do in my experience. If they did, I'd just say there was no relevant equipment on the premises during the unlicensed period and take it all the way to the European Court of Human Rights, if necessary.
