The young man had a history of mental illness and his family insist he could have been talked down. He'd made it home - where else was he gonna go?
Two things about the Garda response:
1. The local community Guard is alleged to have known about his mental illness but the info never made it to the guys with guns. Or did they know & ignore the info?
2. And to butcher a cliche, when you have a big hammer (guns), everything looks like a nail (target to be shot). Did the guys with guns start with talking, then pepper spray and finally guns. Or did they
shoot first and ask questions later?
