I did have a strange find one night, it was a student Thursday night and this really old fella flagged me down in the city center at 2am?? Nice fella a bit pissed but not too much, dropped him home to the southern burbs and much later on I found a wallet in the car, I had a peep inside and saw a Nifty note and some change, closed the wallet and last thing before finishing at 6am dropped the wallet in to the Garda station, the Guard takes the wallet from me and rifles through it, he pulls out a library card with a name and date of birth but no address on it, he sez to me; "Yer man Dominic xxx is 84, do you know him ?" and I'm thinking that it has to be the old fella from 2am, so I give the Guard the approx address of where I dropped him off and take my leave.
Then I'm thinking that no way will any 84 year old know where to go to collect lost property, so I email the city library and tell them my tale, a very helpful lady answers refusing to give me any of his details but regonises his name on her computer and promises me to contact the man, that was the last I heard of it. Both the Gardai and the librarian had my contact details if they wished to share them with the old fella.
