STC they're not off completely at the lights. The 12volt system is still running in the background. But I suppose they would wear out faster.I have it disabled on the wife's heap.

If there are any Hybird owners out there doing the same on/off to avoid printing receipts they'd be in for a bigger bill if something breaks. It would be like plugging out yer telly 20/30 times a day to change the volume sooner or later something will give.

Hale Microtax 5 is the best meter but the ROI/Dublin? agent (SDA/mechanic24) is probably the worst installer in the business. On the plus side Mechanic 24 is open 24/7 and the meter takes an advance programme so you never have to queue for recalibration. Have mine since 2000, no bother with it.

Why wait 'till it's sealed to fit a switch, Ken. Once you remember to switch it on for the tests you'll have no problem. You can switch either the brown or black wire.

The thermal ones I use cost at least 25 a box.Anyway it's not the cost so much as the inconvenience of driving out to get them when they eventually run out.

I hate that feature as they call it,that when you stop at a traffic light, the car cuts out,and only starts again when you go down on the accelerator

There’s better things to be going down on than an accelerator  lol

Prius is silent when stopped in traffic, sets off like a rocket with all the torque from the electric motor.

Just to be sure to be sure, I'll get it through initial reseal and maybe suitability first which are both nearly due before I put the switch on it.

Perhaps leave the old meter in , you never know when you might need it

A Monkee fer a meter ?

I got mine done last month (Hale microtax 5) without printer, the original quote was fer 120 but the installer guy was the whole morning trying to get it installed with various problems cropping up, so he then asked fer 150, I gave him 160 fer all his time and trouble.
I fooked up the receipt printer a few days later trying to force paper in to it, the installer guy spent 30 minutes clearing out the paper fer me and asked fer nothing in payment, I gave him a Tenner fer his time and trouble.
