You're dead right, there is no unity...but every driver has a different story.....you were lucky to have a pensionable job...and will always have that as a failsafe...i don't but i'm around long enough not to be up to me bollox in debt other than our mortgage,
With regard to Mytaxi,as a night driver i use it when it suits.

MyTaxi has announced it is introducing a €5 cancellation fee for customers.

As part of an update to the company's terms and conditions, customers have been told that they will be charged if they cancel two minutes or more after a driver accepts a job.

The cab-hailing company said it was introducing the fee "to improve the efficiency of our service".

Users who are not at the pick-up address within five minutes of a driver's arrival will also have to pay the €5 fee if the driver cancels the job.

For customers who are paying by cash, if either of the two aforementioned scenarios occur, they will be blocked from using the MyTaxi app after two cancellations until the fees are paid in full.
For new users who have never booked a trip through MyTaxi before, they can cancel a taxi order up to three times without incurring the fee.

The changes will come into effect on May 23.

MyTaxi also said it was introducing a subscription service which allows users to pre-purchase time-limited plans that can be used to avail of discounts on rides.

Coola you are probably right when you said you are one of the few who have never used a radio .im the same, but my reason is more a matter of principle that a matter of money.I left my previous job in the employment appeals tribunal to take up SELF EMPLOYMENT.no taxi driver who agrees to adhere to rules laid down by (in this case radio companies) can r reasonably describe themselves as being self employed.Kearns, and his likes have the cheek to tell drivers what to wear, how much to,charge, and unbelievably allow themselves to be DISCIPLINED for giving back discounted work.in my opinion these drivers should never have left the PAYE sector.

I would like to know the name of the first client who, if he is charged a cancellation fee, does not have it refunded, because if it is not refunded he would be foolish, as the previous poster suggesed, not to remove his card from the app.

Subscription Service:
We are introducing terms for a subscription service. Where we make this service available (currently trialed with a limited number of passengers), it allows you to pre-purchase time-limited plans that can be used to avail of discounts on rides.

Match Service:
We are introducing terms for our Match service. Where we make this service available, it allows passengers to share a licensed taxi with other passengers who are travelling in the same direction and split the cost. The Match service is optional to our passengers and is currently only available in Limerick.

Voucher Conditions:
We’re updating our terms to set out the conditions that apply to your use of vouchers and promotional codes. These new terms make it clear how and when you can use such vouchers and codes to pay for trips via the mytaxi app.

Payment Terms:
We’re changing our terms dealing with cashless payment to make our respective rights and responsibilities clearer.

Cancellation Fee:
We’re introducing a €5 passenger cancellation fee. You can cancel your trip at any time, but you may be charged a fee in certain cases where a driver already accepted your request, for example where you cancel 2 minutes or more after a driver accepts your request and is on route to pick you up. Read more about this change here.

Future changes to the terms:
We’re updating our terms to allow us to make minor changes to our terms in future without having to ask you to accept those terms. We’re also updating our terms to require us to take certain steps should we make more significant changes to our terms in future.

He then becomes a "Cash" customer and if he cancels twice under the new rules they cut him off !

I've notified MT 0f 2 "cash" MT runners. MT paid me €11.50 for one, as a "gesture of good will". They never confirmed if either or both are now blocked.
