Picked up a female passenger in her evening wear and brought her to St Helen's Wood.
It was 04.15.
When she was dropped outside the fare came to €11.00.
She said it was a five minute journey and 11 Euro was very expensive.
I reminded her that in the absence of public transport a taxi was the only option.
So you can charge whatever you like she said.
No, I said , I can only charge what's on the meter!
She went quiet after that.

No doubt if she walked and was attacked, mugged, raped, or murdered that would have been the taxi drivers fault too.

I think some customers think that we pocket 100% of every fare.After expenses, you probably get 7 quid if you're lucky then have to find another fare.They're probably the same people who were complaining about being driven around in 12-year-old cars.Everything comes at a price.Dublin is an expensive city.

Must have had her brother last night, had two passengers in the car who didnt know each other, first guy gets out first, 7 euro I asked for, such and such does it for 5, then why didnt you ring him I said. He pays and gets out. The other passenger couldnt believe how tight he was fighting over 2 euro and then paying with a 50. Some people would disgust you with how miserable they are with money.

Second guy gets out a few miles later, he gave me double what I asked for.

If you are tight with money its something you will be until you die. Has to be the worst trait you can have.

Then assume if they're overcharging, then everyone else is.

Because I work days I get them saying yer man robbed me last night/few weeks ago etc etc ..you'd be surprised how many folks don't realise there's actually a premium rate for taxis.

Another thing you night lads might be getting are the folks who haven't been in a cab in years because they've got kids and used to skulling three bottles of wine on the couch for a score.Now they're ready to spend again and are discovering everything is more expensive.I saw a tourist pay €7 for a pint of fukkin Harp last night.Nothing is cheap anymore.

I'm sick of being asked why there's no Uber here.People wanna be driven in a car for bus fare money because they did it in another country with a subsidised Uber.
