Everest is global warming idiots standing on melting snow for their turn to climbe melting snow .I like bike rscing was brought up on Barry Shen but Road racing id dangerous our kid was a good mate of Robert Dunlop and her pal Carl Cox sponsors a team but three people on average killed in a sport over a week .Too dangerous for me ,road racoing should be banned and only track racing with run off should be allowed .

These guys know the risks...just like the guys climbing snowy mountains...they're not getting on their bikes with guns held to their heads.

I did think that the Gofundme page that was set up to raise funds to retrieve the body of the TCD lecturer was a bit selfish considering the risk to the people tasked with recovering him....thankfully the family saw sense.

They're sportsmen John....maybe you should write a letter of complaint to the relevant governing body and see what their reply is.....would you stand in a room full of these racers and say what you've said here?....you might need a full face helmet and body armour.

Seems the TT is the worst for deaths though. Superbikes and the Moto stuff are safe enough....never the fall but the obstacle you hit that kills you. Bikes are fine in the right hands..........those TT men are loopers anyway. Went to see the bikes in the Northwest this yr as I do regularly.......most of the lads at these events are seasoned old timers but there's always gobshites on Fireblades with the mates filming him etc.

It's a great way to go..... 100 mph and all of a sudden bang and nuttin in yur head....
Better than wasting away in some old folks home smellin of piss in pain for yers and bein abused and neglected by yur family and so called care workers who batter  ya like a dog wen nobody is lookin....

Great dignity in bein splattered all over someone's wall or lamppost and instant death

I've done silly speeds on a bike but only where it was relatively safe. There was a time when the M50 was empty at night but now the whole place is busy 24hours a day.You get it out of your system then cop on when you get older. Most of the fun is in accelerating.Everything after 130mph is a blur of lights.

Them lads doing the road racing are a different breed of crazy. One seized engine or brake failure and they're probably a gonner. It's hard to comprehend how stupid it is until you watch the onboard cameras at the Northwest 200.

What about motorbikes being used as Baxis, now there's an idea , obviously only room for 1 pax and no luggage but would get a person to their destination very quick !!

There have been a few bike taxi businesses that tried to have a go but never really succeeded. Now that we've got bicycle lanes everywhere there's less room to overtake on a motorbike.
