Fantastic darts from Ireland, captained by Steve Lennon, to finish runners up to Scotland - our best result to date. Both Steve and Willie (O'Connor) played out of their skins. Regular contributors will know that I've been a fan of Lennon since I first saw him throw on TV a few years back... the way he's progressing it won't be too long before we have an Irish world champion. In fact, I reckon once he beats van Gerwen once or twice on the big stage he'll be the next big hitter, bit like Anderson after beating Taylor in the Players Championship the first year he won the WC. Anywaysanall, it was O'Connor who put in the best performance of the tournament in beating Rob Cross (who did very little wrong) with a 115 average. In the same tie Lennon beat Michael Smith giving Ireland a memorable 2-0 victory over England to set up a semi-final clash with Hoilland in which they easily beat van Gerwen and Wattimena in the deciding doubles game. What a weekend!
