It's a total Pipe dream of mine to restore the old classic car and as it is owned by a member of an ethnic minority group who does not wish to sell it, then most likely it won't ever happen.
But it does bug me to drive past the old classic regularly to see in more disrepair each time.

Maybe a Radio station like 4FM Classic Hits might take it on, restore it and take it to the 'Events' nights to Show it off ?

@ ShallowHal and anybody else with an educated opinion, 2 questions.

Firstly, How much (ball park) to get the body work done and taking it that the inside is as bad as the outside, how much to get it in a presentable fashion both inside and out that it could be displayed (not running) at an 'Events' gig fer a Radio or whatever type of company ?

Second question, How much fer all of the above + Running ?

They're tough questions Ken....I spent about 2.5k on my yoke(just parts and welding, renewed interior)...I was lucky enough to have a good welder,I did most...well all of the donkey work...also lucky enough to have made a friend(next door neighbour bro in law) that has a workshop with lift etc and a wealth of knowledge and expertise...he didn't know much about the car then....but does now!

I'd say the underneath is fairly rusty...American yikes of that vintage tended to rot...you'd need to get it on a lift for a thorough inspection....could be a money pit but I understand fully how one can feel about certain cars.

Waste of time and money Ken. All the rubber has rotted as well as the brake lines and floor, not to mention the engine.
I have have restored vintage and classic cars.
You would buy a good one for half the price.

you might be able to pick a really nice one up in the US for around $15k.
that car is still on US plates which means the owner never paid the VRT and got irish plates.
if you don't VRT a car within 30 days of it entering the state penalties and interest accrue the longer you don't pay it.
I wonder what sort of stupid cunt would let that happen.
the type of cunt who'd abandon it and let it rot.

An old car has to be road worthy ( driven off the trailer) before you can pay the VRT or put plates on it.

The owner is seemingly a member of the Settled Ethnic Minority group,
hence Irish Law as we Irish citizens know it does not apply.

Thanks DMG, but it is the Challenge of restoration that would excite me (if'n I won the Lotto).
I don't want to buy what someone else has restored.
