What is our country coming to when a state body like DCC actually recomends payment of protection money to scumbags. I thought I'd seen it all

Read the article, they recommended they pay via electronic transfer not cash.
The thick fucks calling themselves criminals accepted this so thats how they got caught.

The Dublin docks revamp was an example of local jobs for local people during the boom. Just good business.

Not that surprising.  Back in the '70's & 80's, half the council business was done in the snugs in Conways pub on Parnell St.  Building was a cash business then as well only the cash was going the other way.  Handily enough, there was even a back door from the council offices onto Moore Lane.

Remember hearing a story that a fork lift on the Blanch Center was operated by a local westie and you had to pay him to unload your truck or you didnt unload .

He'd want more than a fork lift now to lift the 20 odd ton thats piled on top of him.

There was a protection racket years ago .We would stand outside Cecil Fines bookie across from the Black Horse Pub in Inchicore .Trucks going into a lot of factories would not be loaded or unloaded if they didnt have a breaster (helper ) Truck drivers would pay you a £5er to sit in the cab or £8 if you had to help load .Unions insisted no helper no load .

There usta be a bunch of lads outside campions pub next door to Bell Lines ( where the convention centre is now)
waiting on them fiver brester jobs johnny.
It was the in thing down the docks where unions insisted on helpers on the trucks even though they were rarely needed.
