Heard they are to be avoided .They fit a black box that will be used in the event of any claim and the data will be used in future to increase your premium .

Probably.

Only 2 questions re insurance cos. 1 How much? 2. How they behave when you have a claim.

1. Happy they quoted/charged €1755 when my best/only alternative was €3k with 6 penalty points.
2. Happily I have not yet had to test that behaviour.

A colleague only got offered €1920 when AXA wanted €2000 renewal, he stayed with AXA. He had no points, lower value car than mine and slightly younger than meself with max no claims. Think they all pull the prices out of their arses.
Trump has called for help, so I'm on a plane heading for The Strait of Hormuz, talk soon.

I'd love to know what's happening with these inquiries into the insurance industry we keep hearing about for the past few years

Looking at the website, I wonder how long they'll last. Says that they take ya if youve 9 points and even if youve had 3 claims in 3 years! Seems mad.

Telematics insurance is the most well-known variety of pay-as-you-go insurance, and historically has always been associated with the distinctive black box you have installed in your car.

However telematics refers to the technology used to monitor your driving habits, of which black box is only one option – you can also get removable plug-and-drive devices that work in the same way, and an app that uses the GPS in your smartphone.

These devices monitor more of your driving habits, including:

Acceleration
Braking
Cornering
Mileage
Time spent driving
Location
This is fed back to your insurer, which uses it to give you a driving score – the better your score, the lower your premiums. You’ll be able to keep track of your driving score and habits through your insurer’s online portal or smartphone app – many telematics policies will also give you advice on improving your driving to help you reduce your premiums further.

WAIT TILL YOUR RENEWAL NEXT YEAR  lol lol lol lol lol

A friend of our Kid was with a Telemetric Insurer and they scalped her .When she went to return to a traditional Insurer they wanted her Telemetric Score before they would offer her any NCB .

I dunno, I don't like that I pay the same insurance as the bloke covering 50k a year. Some sort of pay as you use would probably halve my premium.

Why should someone with more time and experience on the road be pushed?

The system they use is they Rate your Driving that is how they reach your quote .Unlike traditional insurers who offer NCB based on accidents or penelty Points .What Im hearing is if you Go PAYG insurance then the Traditonals will want your Zego Profile before the offer you any NCB .Looking at the Criteria for PAYG insurance .Time driven might result in issues whenit comes to Taxi insurance if you exceed 11 hours daily (This has not yet been testedin court ) Speeding I would assume most drivers speed in excess of 33% of the time only marginal but still speeding .Acceleration with all the starting and stopping for clients at ranks and lights that must effect that criteria .Mileage We would be well outside the Norm on that score .

Signing up for this crowd could turn out a bit like getting your first girlfriends Name tattoeed on your Arm .Seemed like a good idea back then but now she is married to Big Dommos Brothers Wifes sister .

Cant see how a Full time taxi service Provider could have a reasonably low score with this system  so will get monster quote next year .So what NCB will you have to transfer to a traditional Insurer .

The more miles you cover the more tired you are. Some poor bastard commuting from the midlands is much more dangerous than the bloke who lives almost beside his first job everyday.Dead mileage fuks you up.I did enough of it when I was a courier.

The 11 hours driving limit per day could be interpreted a lot of ways and where and when you stop could be used to prove if you took a break .Be interesting to see how this systemsorts out claims .It might be Ok for a lad with a Ban comming back or a lad with a few claims but It dosent appeal to me at the Moment .
