UBER driver training
« on: November 10, 2019, 04:02:17 pm »
Anyone know what days they do the driver training in the Uber offices. FreeNow has really let me down by giving me no jobs, as something wrong with the system, and it's been like this for me for weeks. Out last night and could only do prebook jobs. Went home depressed after making less than €100 for 7 hours work.

https://www.uber.com/ie/en/drive/requirements/

They're a lot more fussy about what constitutes a limousine than Free Now... but if you're not in you can't win, drop 'em an email if you can't find what you're looking for on the link, they generally respond very quickly.

I went home(ish) depressed after 3 hours with less than a ton myself last night, first night I've worked in ages and fully intended getting the monkey out of it but lost interest... ah well, tomorrow's another day... hope that makes you feel better although I'm not sure why it would or could.
If it doesn't have a roof sign and door stickers it's not a taxi.

Cheers RT, yeah nights that are not so prosperous puts a serious downer on the night. I'd normally pull in over 3 ton, so I'll be on bread and water for the week now.
I'll try that link, and hopefully my limo makes the requirement.

Has your driver rating taken a dive by any chance Firewall?I'm convinced it has a bearing on the number of jobs you get.

This is from Uber's Irish website.
"You drive a 2006 or newer long wheel-base S-class (or equivalent) or a 2009 E-Class or newer (or equivalent) vehicle, licensed as a limousine, in excellent condition."

Have you deleted the app and upload a new one .?

Maybe folk can’t afford to get as many limos as they used to, or else FN has now started implementing a “if you want to work in Dublin, you have to have a Dublin license” system.

Well the wording of the legal definition is going to be changed soon, which will mean you cannot be “available for work in a place you aren’t licensed for”

My driver rating is at 4.92, highest its ever been, so that hasn't dropped off.
Yeah I noticed a lot of limos around the airport, but this shouldn't bother any taxi drivers who have Kesh permits, and taxis dropping off are often picking up at the departures on T2 anyway, so I don't see the problem here.
I got a few taxi fares in Ballymun/Finglas area early on Saturday morning(3am), so the app kinda works when it wants to. Wouldn't prefer not to be picking anyone up at that time in that area, at least twice I though I was gonna get robbed/stabbed. Shangan Road is a lovely spot.

Even if your not licensed for the area, I still get jobs, as they are "booked", so there is no law been broken. Tbh, what Dublin licensed drivers aren't picking up in Bray/Clonee/Celbridge/Leixlip if someone is on the road hailing?
You'd be very surprised how many people have tried FreeNow to get a cab on a busy night, and all the drivers turn the app off, but watch the prebook page for decent runs. People just book an Exec job and pay the extra to get home, it's actually quite lucrative.

Try working the Southside, lovely people and loads of work(sometimes), Mention you know STC's or Horse , you'll be OK.

Failing that move to Cork and engage with Ken (Dont forget to bring the Donut's)

Maybe you'd get a good trade in on the limo against a wheely van.At least then you wouldn't need to be anyone's slave when the scutter hits the propeller.

It's early November FW, everything is quiet, everyone is holding on to their few bob fer Chrimbo.
Give it another week or so and all the Chrimbo parties be starting up.
