A global realisation on a personal, as well as governmental level, that we share the planet, and a common humanity, is the only way to overcome the various forces that threaten humanity's very existence. Yes,looking at the way the world is at the moment, human evolution is a long way from that reality. The animal kingdom has shown in so many cases that survival chances are greatly improved by cooperation. The European project, for all its many faults is, in my opinion an example of survival enhancing cooperation. The many irritating rules it has brought into our lives are outweighed by the principles underlying its inception, and its many significant achievements to date. Hopefully there will continue a global realisation that we have to depend on each other to survive, and that the beardy guy in the sky is probably not looking in, and even if he is, his performance to date is abysmal.
I dont know about multicllitoralism but when people star talking about racism and homophobia and the like, what I cant figure out is this ......why is is worse to call someone a N)g(er that to call them a fat bastard ? why is it worse to call someone F+g_0t than to call them a Ginger Cnut ? Is it ok to abuse people in some ways but not in other ways? and who makes the rules ? Puzzeled

Fat bastards are fat bastards because they made themselves fat bastards, apart from me - I'm big boned. Nigga as opposed to the er variation certainly seems acceptable within certain parameters, for example the americanisation "nigga rich" is/was commonly used by or to comment on immigrants regardless of origin, including the Irish.
