2019 - An exceptional year of record breaking in female sport
« on: December 22, 2019, 04:06:39 pm »
Looking back at 2019, Female athletes in sport had an exceptional year with tons of records getting set and smashed after years.

my top moments:

  • Kenya’s Brigid Kosgei etched her name into the history books of sport with one of the greatest running performances ever., smashing the the women’s marathon record held for 16-years by Paula Radcliffe by more than a minute, recording a time of two hours 14 minutes 04 seconds at the 2019 Chicago Marathon
  • 2 time  Olympic champ Claressa Shields became the undisputed women’s middleweight world boxing champion
  • Simone Biles became the most decorated gymnast in history in 2019 at just age 22!
  • Long-distance runner Sifan Hassan entered mile run at the Herculis meet in Fontvieille, Monaco where she broke an almost 23-year-old world record.with her final time of 4:12:33.
  • The opening weekend derby game between rivals Manchester City and MUFC  had attendance of more than of 31,000 fans .
  • Golfer Jin Young Ko’s sealed an incredible feat in the golf history books. The South Korean ended a streak of going 114 holes without hitting a single bogey at the 2019 Cambia Portland Classic. ( She broke a record held by Tiger Woods!)

Then last Tuesday, darts player Fallon Sherrock made history by becoming the first woman to triumph over a male player at a darts world championship.

Not really sportsmen though, more entertainers. I think the Dublin women's GAA team won the All Ireland as well - open to correction.

No more than I'd fancy her chances against any professional male boxer. If they were any good there'd be no need for separate gender biased competitions. The PDC doesn't hold darts competitions for women - apart from qualifiers to promote participation through positive discrimination - so why should the GAA have gender biased football teams? Anywaysanall, with advancements in gender fluidity it'll soon be impossible to differentiate to any certain end.

Is there a women's professional snooker organisation... or are they just free to compete with the men if they want to?

A true story, many moons ago meself and the crew left Val Hatton's (Drimnagh) and went down to the Castle Billiard Hall on the Drimnagh Road after a heap of Gargle.

Proceeded to play a game of snooker and 1 of the lads took his gooleys out and placed them over one of the pockets, only fookin snooker table in the world that had 17 reds on it.  rofl

The cynicism sets in when Feminism hijacks individual performances by female athletes to promote a sinister agenda. Having drunk fatties with placards at Darts events declaring "independent women" are taking over seems rather jaded when you consider half them are funded by the Govt's handout schemes to prevent their very independence. Most people know when they're being pissed on while being told it's raining...

Allison Fisher was prob the best female snooker player but even she could not take on any half-decent male snooker player, even after she turned pro in the early nineties she still failed to make it past qualification fer any of the main events.
She did well fer herself after by going to the US to play in the women's pool events.
