The other half are snorting cocaine. Thing is, most of them aren't strung out junkies that we'd traditionally associate with heroin, in particular. There is a need for some radical thinking on the part of Govt. Gardai have no interest in policing the streets of Coolock, there's far too many chippers giving away hamburgers and far too much snooker to play in the station and, undoubtedly, far too many backhanders to collect from those at the top of the supply chain. In any event, tackling the problem through enforcement would require internment without trial of every male under 35 living in or suspected to have visited any council built estate in North or West Dublin and, maybe, Drogheda... and even that would only move the problem elsewhere. Taking the supply chain away from Criminal enterprises must be given serious consideration at this juncture.
